More about Sheraton Bandara

by pangtidor

Renting a car could make a convenient travel time , but there are things you should know for your pleasant trip too. Firstly, GET TO KNOW ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. Find out if the fare will include the fuel and driver meal. In touristic areas, they will provide you water and umbrella during the rainy season. If you have to buy the fuel, find out which type of car you are going to use. Some will give you a cheap rate but you will spend more in fuel. Renting a car with the driver will be better but you have to get all the terms and conditions from the car rental company from the first hand or the hotel transport desk. Find out who will be responsible in case the car crashes or damaged during your renting time. In case you rent the car along with the driver, the driver will be responsible for it. Make everything clear before you rent the car. Secondly, BE CAREFUL WITH THE DRIVER. Do not leave your things in the car unattended. When your things will be lost, nobody will be responsible for that. Few drivers may even be the mastermind of the robbery. When you need English speaking driver, find out if there will be an additional fee for that. Thirdly, DO NOT RENT THE CAR BY HOURS. You can not expect the traffic on the streets and many drivers will try their best to expand the miles and hours. We rent a car from a respectful car rental company, EUROPCAR from Sheraton Jakarta. The driver intentionally trapped us in the middle of the traffic and refused to drop us saying it is not the company policy. The rental hour was doubled and he tried to get his extra money before we reached the hotel desk. After few minutes inconvenient complaining time at the hotel transport desk, we were able to get the price right. Be consistent and do not give up if you know you are right. Better to refuse a driver that you may think is not right from the beginning than fighting with the driver later when you are in the middle of nowhere.

Enjoy Jakarta Standard Chartrd Indonesia Open 2005

No. 4 - My compatriot, Philippines' very own Frankie Minoza - 18 under par 262

"The First "Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open""

The 2005 Enjoy Jakarta Standard Chartered Indonesia Open held from March 24-27 at the Cengkareng Golf Club was the first tournament held in Indonesia co-sanctioned by both the Asian Tour and European Tour. The tournament is sponsored by the Jakarta tourism authority (that's why it has "Enjoy Jakarta" in the title) and a commercial title co-sponsor. In 2005, Standard Chartered Bank was the title co-sponsor.

The prominent names in the golfing world who participated in the 2005 Indonesia Open included Colin Montgomerie, Paul McGinley, Tongchai Jaidee, et. al.

Only open for play since the beginning of 1999, Klub Golf Cengkareng Soewarna is located adjacent to Jakarta’s international airport and only walking distance from the Sheraton Bandara Hotel. Via the toll road you can reach Jakarta’s city centre in about 30 to 40 minutes. Klub Golf Cengkareng rapidly became one of Indonesia’s most popular courses mainly because of the forgiving character of the course in combination with extremely good course maintenance and last but not least because of the fact that golfers are served by attractive (and mostly) friendly female staff.

The course is a friendly but challenging layout of international standard. The ability of playing back stray shots from adjacent fairways makes playing this course for players of high handicap a treat. Low handicappers are advised to play this course from the black tees. On holes 4 and 17 – both par 3- water has to be crossed, while on holes 3, 16 and 18 (the latter being a par 5) water comes into play on the approach shots. The opening hole is a par 5, dogleg right, with a strategically placed bunker at the tee shot landing area. Hole 8 is a par 3 with a green that is well guarded by a rather large bunker to the left. (Info from Golfer’s Guide Indonesia)

"Thailand's Tongchai Jaidee"

He was the reigning Asian Tour No.1 in 2005. I'm a fan of Tongchai-- he's very approachable and always ready to sign autographs for his fans with a smile. :)

"Australia's Adam Fraser"

Adam Fraser made a hole-in-one at the 17th hole using an eight iron, which made him finish at 3rd place with 18 under. He won a Peugeot 307 car for his hole-in-one and he gave his caddy a US$200 tip :).

"India's Arjun Atwal"

I just had to have a photo with Arjun cos he's muy guapito (and of course a good golfer too - he was Asian Tour number one in 2003 :))

"Scotland's Colin Montgomerie"

Monty signing his score card after his final round at the 18th green.
Don't ask me if he is nice, I have no comment!! (But you can ask me if I know some juicy gossip ;-))
His final score of 18 under put him at 3rd place when he finished, until Adam Fraser made that hole-in-one, pushing him to number 4. This of course left Monty in a not-so-good a mood, and he immediately left for the airport to catch his late afternoon flight and did not wait for the awarding anymore.

This tourney was important for Monty, who at that time was ranked No. 54 in world ranking. He's got to win here to be in the Top 50 in world ranking for him to get into the US Masters at Augusta National which was scheduled for April 7-10, 2005. (I think he didn't manage to get in the Masters that year).

"England's Simon Hurd"

I just wanted a picture with Simon, but he kinda took it a bit further :). He's very nice, friendly, chatty and fun.

Sheraton Bandara to the city to shop

by vicknaes

I will be in JKT for a quick biz meeting. Will be staying at the sheraton bandara. Where can I go shopping for painting and balinese art? nothing upscale. I'm a street wise shopper. Thanks

Re: Sheraton Bandara to the city to shop

Sheraton Bandara is airport hotel & no shopping places nearby. Its better if you go to the city itself for your shopping. Sarinah in Jalan MH Thamrin should have those paintings & balinese arts that you want to buy.

I suggest going to Pasar Seni at Ancol. This is a handicrafts market. Lots more choices than at Sarinah and I think much easier to reach from the sheraton Hotel.

Haggling can be you could use your streetwise skills here.

Cafe Bandara / Sekitar Bandara

by awp

Terima kasih :)

Re: Cafe Bandara / Sekitar Bandara

The problem is that 3 hours isn't really long enough to go out you need check in 1 hour before departure that only leaves you 2 hours, it will probably take 3/4 hour to get anywhere that is reasonably close to the airport (there is a development for cafe's and restaurants close to the airport underway but not yet anywhere near ready)That only leaves you with 1/2 hour. Better you stay in the airport, plenty of small places there but not so good for relaxing. There is an executive lounge of some description in the departure area (before you go through security, there is a charge for entrance *can't remember what), but inside is more comfortable than outside with better seats. There is only one so you cant miss it.

Hello Rahasia Besar :)

Actually i have about 2 hours transit time (4h minus the hassle luggage pick up & 1h boarding time to GA). Cengkareng can be so boring sometime, specially in my case after very long flight, i wonder if i can reach Sheraton Bandara easily within my time frame ? i'm thinking to enjoy their restaurant.

Sheraton Bandara pilihan yg tepat. Letaknya nggak jauh dan ada shuttle bus menuju ke sana. Kalau mau lebih cepat lagi, ya naik ojek..

Try old-time food in hawker style at Pancoran, Glodok.
If you want window shopping for electronics and computers go to Manggadua.
Another place to visit is Jakarta Fair at Kemayoran. It is aa annual big expo that held for Jakarta's anniversary. Ussualy starts at mid June.
Those places are not far from your hotel.

There is a new theme park for kids called Kidzania. Actually, they called themself edutainment town. It is located at Pacific Place Shopping Mall level 6th, Sudirman Central Bussiness District, South Jakarta. For more information you can go to
Another place to be think about is Safari Park in Puncak. Yeah, it is at outside Jakarta, but it's worth to visit.
I hope its help...
