Simply stunning

I loved staying at this hotel. Even though you can tell that it's not the newest property it is extremely well maintained. From the moment you walk in the door, it is just magnificent. The rooms are an excellent size with lovely decor. I especially liked the personalised stationery waiting in your room when you check in. Has your name printed on Dharmawangsa business cards and letterhead. Really cool. The butler service was excellent. One small negative - no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. If you want tea/coffee you need to call the Butler, which actually becomes an inconvenience (especially when first awake need a caffeine burst). Plus of course you get charged for the tea/cofee. But in the scheme of things, this is pretty minor.

Unique Quality: Beautiful accommodation. Fantastic swimming pool. They have a pool bar but don't serve alcohol by the pool, so if you're partial to a poolside cocktail you'll have to settle for a virgin version.

The Bimasena day spa was excellent and very reasonably priced.

Restaurants are great. Lovely french restaurant and the main "Jakarta" restaurant has a brilliant Seafood BBQ buffet on a Saturday night.

The Best Boutique Hotel in Jakarta

I would be very pleased to recommend this such a great hotel to you. The Dharmawangsa Jakarta is located in the heart of Kebayoran Baru, the most prestigious residential area in Jakarta, Indonesia. Here, just minutes from the Central Business District, The Dharmawangsa is a peaceful oasis of tranquility, luxury, timeless architectural design. The distinctively residential style of the hotel offers a soothing contrast to the teaming metropolis. The Dharmawangsa Hotel, Jakarta was born out of the dream to create a hotel property that would complement the residential area of Kebayoran Baru in terms of architecture, scale and utility

Unique Quality: The Spa specializes in aroma therapy, using lavender, geranium, silver fur, eucalyptus, rosemary, marjoram, chamomile, ginger, orange, lemon, lime, tea tree and other mild fragrances. Indonesian massages and treatments maintain traditional originality. Exotic and unique treatments such as a special seaweed extract relaxation therapy called thalasso therapy or "scotch showers" for those who appreciate therapeutic high pressure water techniques designed to detoxify the body are also administered by qualified professionals.

Adding to the exclusivity and discreteness of the club are three private suites equipped with saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms and massage beds for two. Other spa services include salon services, facial treatments, manicures and pedicures.

The Dharmawangsa also have an indoor swimming pool which is great for a hotel in Jakarta.

Ethnic Javanese Style Hotel

On the nights of my wedding procession, my husband and his family stayed here because my house is not that far away from the hotel. They had a great time in this hotel and really enjoyed the decor of the hotel a lot. The food was good and they always got somekind of small pastries at night in their rooms when they got back from the wedding ceremonies. I will definitely recommend this hotel to other people, especially those who are seeking some javanese cultural flairs while they stay in Jakarta.

Unique Quality: The butler service that they got when they had a phone call from outside is very special. One time when my sister-in-law's fiancee called in from the States, he was surprised to find that he talked to a butler who would take his message and directed his calls to her.
The gamelan music in the early evening as guests stroll in to the hotel is great too, creating an ambiance that is uniquely Indonesian, as oppose to a generic five star hotel that has a standard lobby with a piano in it. The pool is out of the ordinary because it makes you feel that you are one with the nature.

Indonesian luxury

This boutique hotel is arguably the best and most luxurious hotel in Jakarta. Unique ethnic Indonesian fabrics and work of arts complement the Javanese-style teak wood interior, which makes this hotel to feel thoroughly modern yet distinctly Indonesian at the same time.

During our stay here, we stayed at the standard room, but even so the room was oversized and opens onto a large private balcony. A personal butler is available to every guest. The amenities include dual line phones, a fax machine, broadband Internet access, a complete entertainment center (including cd/dvd player). What more could you ask? There are three restaurants and three bars/lounges in the hotel, as well as one of the best health club/spa in Jakarta. Two outdoor pools and one indoor pool complement the multiple tennis courts for sports enthusiasts.

Managed by the upscale American boutique hotel chain, Rosewood, the Dharmawangsa is located in one of Jakarta's finest residential area, Kebayoran Baru. Far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city, but close enough from the food and nightlife of Kemang, as well as the shopping and red light district of Blok M. Definitely the hotel to stay in if you want to bask in luxury while in Jakarta.

Unique Quality: - The Javanese teak wood interior combined with work of arts from all over Indonesia is a feast for the eyes
- Oversized rooms with generous amenities
- True Indonesian hospitality

Stay with an Indonesian family

Unique Quality: Without any neon sign or billboard, this hotel still can be noticed as a great one among hotels in south of Jakarta. Unique architecture and trully Indonesia --especially Javanese-- actentuantion in every corner of their rooms. Feel so hommy here :) And their names for rooms, suites and resto also based on Indonesian history, like Majapahit room and Sriwijaya lounge. Meanwhile the spa and gym called Bimasena.

I would recommend to stay in the Mangga Dua area where there are lots of stores nearby. It's also near the expressway to/from the airport as well as the old Batavia Square. We stayed at the Novotel (see my tip below) which was reasonably priced and had great facilities.

Hi,

One of the nicer hotels is the Grand Hyatt which has great views from the rooms in the top floors as well as a nice bar right at the top. Probably around US$140 per night there.
or The Dharmawangsa Hotel is a 5 star hotel though up around US$320.

There is a good list of hotels with their website addresse here:

Good luck with your trip
