Taman Safari Indonesia
Taman Safari Indonesia
My fiance and I went to this adventure park. It is located about two to three hours away by car from Jakarta.(south). When we reached our destination, we first drove through entrance and then reached park entrance and paid our entrance fee. From here we took route where the safari animals roam! Yes there are tigers, elephants, rhinos and other wild animals free to roam. You drive your vehicle/car and stay on road. Very nice drive and you can actually see up close!
Use caution too , windows must be rolled up in certain places. Some sections are seperated to keep animals away from each other. You must push entrance button to each gate to travel further. After completion of tour, you can then take the entrance to the Amusement park where there are rides and other animal shows! This is where I was able to take pictures of baby tigers and elephants up close! Very nice place to visit and take walk!
While I was here, there was a stage show where
young children performed in costumes traditional Indonesian dances!
I had great time with my fiance/wife and this is where I was able to take walks with her! After we had finished here, we then went up further on the mountain road which was winding and arrived to Puncak and had lunch at restaurant! My fondest memory of this trip to Taman Safari Indonesia is that this was actually our first official date. (my fiance and I) Walking inside and seeing attractions together was really nice. She was my
tour guide this whole day. I was able to get some very nice shots for my photo albums.
Now I am back in San Jose, California while she is still in Jakarta, Indonesia. I MISS HER SO MUCH! I await very patiently for her, for we will be married in year 2003....:-)
Need some physical refreshments? Slide down fast through the continuous tube run and splash yourself into the water.
Adjacent to Pondok Indah Mall in South Jakarta, Pondok Indah Waterpark can be a good choice to have fun splishing and splashing... or swimming in the Olympic-size swimming pool.
Jakarta Institute of Art
Taman Ismail Marzuki or T.I.M., is the place for the pursuit of cultural activities in Jakarta.
T.I.M. is the largest art center in Southeast Asia, consisting of exhibition halls, theaters, an academy of arts, an archives building and a planetarium, which happened to be closed the day I visited. Also it hosts the Institut Kesenian Jakarta (Jakarta Institute for the Arts.)
Sri, suggested that while she went to her art class, I should walk around the campus to see the various activities.
I stopped to watch a class of very young girls learning to move their feet, legs, bodies, arms, heads and most impressively, their eyes, to tell the story through their lovely traditional dance.
Next I came upon a sort of walled in, outdoor arena where musicians practiced for an outdoor concert to be held soon. Near the gate to the arena students were practicing their lines for a play.
Monthly, exhibitions, plays, musical and poetry recitals, dance performances, folk art and drama from the various regions of Indonesia are offered by TIM for the general public and a calendar of these events can be found at most hotels.
Also I saw Artists painting the lush exotic bit of tropical nature just outside the class room.
Relaxing while shopping
Located in the heart of Jakarta with hundreds of prestigious tenants, this shopping center obviously aims for up market shoppers. It has a walk through link with Grand Hyatt Hotel Jakarta, a well-known five star hotel.
This mall is getting more and more popular and filling more of its rented space with top quality shops, services and restaurants. It’s the best for top of the range clothing and often has good fashion events. However recently there are also more shops with slightly more affordable goods there as well. And yes, coming soon, the extension of this mall for younger shoppers with many entertainment tenant, cinemas etc. The luxurious environment makes shopping enjoyable, and not that crowded. Sogo department store is in the mall as are a host of branded boutiques offering top quality product, such as Bruno Magli, Cartier, Versace, Bulgari, Gucci, Hugo Boss, etc. Several international restaurants and coffee chain are also here. You name it, Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Coffee Club and Dome. And don’t forget La Moda Café in the atrium, which regularly host entertainment and fashion shows.
