The Hill Hotel & Resort Sibolangit: Relaxing Stay

We stayed one night on the way back from Lake Toba to Medan. A very huge and well maintained garden with plenty of animals including flamingos, swans and rabbits really appreciated by our daughter. Nice and clean room (super deluxe), good food and a very attentive staff made our stay very enjoyable.

The huge park with plenty of animals.

Deli River: My favorite place to stay in Medan

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the hotel and the service very much. Would stay there again when back to Sumatra and can recommend the place.

Huge tropical garden, good rooms, good local food and quiet although not far from the city's attractions.

Garden Inn: Bukit Lawang accomodation

This was a fancy place to stay compared to the much cheaper options there were. It worked out to be a total of $10 a night for two people (yes, thats all together, not each :) and we got a gorgeous cottage with a balcony, double bed, our own bathroom and shower. The hotel staff was friendly and didn't harass me nearly as much as other Sumatran men do. Their English is fairly good and they can tell you a lot about things to do in the area. The food is good as well, we ate all our meals at the Garden Inn restaurant. By the way, you don't need to stay here to eat at the restaurant. Several people used to come just to eat drink and hang out and enjoy the view of the jungle.

Wild monkeys used to come and sit on our balcony, peek in at us through the windows in the morning, it was an amazing thing to wake up to :) Note that this hotel warns you to keep your doors/windows closed as the monkeys will try to get in, especially if they smell food.
