More about Ayodya Resort
Don't bother with Ayodya Resort
This is a five star property in Nusa Dua, Bali, formerly owned by Hilton and now managed independently. The property is incredible. The service, although friendly, is comical. They claim to be 5 star, yet deliver only two star, with illegal cabbies lurking in the lobby, and vendors bombarding you as you try to relax on the beach.
Upgrade to The Ayodya Palace
We stayed at the Ayodya palace hotel for 4 days at the end of July. Great room on the 4th floor with views of the ocean. The Ayodya has its own pool and breakfast area, but you can use the services and facilities of the Hilton to which it is attached. Superb (and I mean superb) service. Best we have had anywhere. Room rate included breakfast, free soft drinks throughout the day (brought poolside to you with a plate of fruit), afternoon tea and cocktails in the evening. I would highly recommend this hotel.
The Bali Hilton International
Pampered Luxury, superb facilities wonderful beach and the most impressive entrance you can imagine!
An old grand dame in dire need of a major makeover
The Ayodya Resort Bali (formerly known as the Bali Hilton) harks back to the grand dames of the eighties, with sprawling grounds, verdant gardens, and a multitude of specialty restaurants, all in a single, expansive property. However, the Ayodya Resort Bali is one grand dame in dire need of a major makeover.
The grounds are charming for sure. It has a vast central lagoon which
provides a habitat to a variety of birds, lizards, and fishes. There
is also a team of cleaners maintaining the estate in as pristine a condition as they can. Step inside, however, and one can’ help but be disappointed. The standard rooms, for example, are starkly basic, with carpets suggesting much wear, sheets hinting stuborn stains, air damp with what seems like mildew, and an underpowered air-conditioning system.
The decor at the restaurants (and it looked like only three of the eight or so were open) looks extremely dated, and the menu was uninspiring. Quality of food, with exception of the Japanese teppenyaki, was dismal. The Balinese theatre themed buffet dinner (usually a money-spinner) was canceled without a sound. The disappointing choice of dining option and quality could be due to the low occupancy (bell hops and restaurant staff said it hovered at about 30 percent but it seemed lower), would be a poor excuse for a lack of quality. Equipment at the gym looked like they had never been replaced since the inception of the hotel, and a distinctly musty smell permeated the air.
The pluses of the hotel would have to be its sense of space, old-world charm, a large swimming pool, and the fantastic Nusa Dua beach. However, the same can be said for numerous other Bali properties of similar age, but have nonetheless reinvigorated their brand and upgraded their facililities to keep up with the times.
All said, the Ayodya Resort Bali would not be a hotel I would return to unless substantial upgrading was done.
A small palace!!!
Ayodya is a small palace for me.....i spent 5 nights with my wife in Jul 2007 and it was very impressing from the first minute. Everything was very good and clean. The pool in the middle of the hotel is more than beautiful!
The service is very good, everyone is friendly (although their english are not at the best level, they are always willing to help you). We had breakfast in the hotel, there was a good variety of foods and fruits (not many sweets) but not many changes from day to day.
Definatelly a very good choice for relaxing vacation. Nusa Dua is very friendly for tourists since it is a private area. Many good places arround for trips.
See you again in AYODYA!!
It was our first time in bali....and ayodya was just amazing. We stayed at the grande garden view room which was nice. Its a huge property with 500+ rooms, a beautiful lagoon, nice pool and amazing beach.....perfect to swim and relax. We were earlier confused about nusa dua or kuta...but we r glad we chose nua dua....2 min walk from the hotel there are very nice places to eat with live music which offer 20% discount and also free ride back to the hotel ......cheaper and better food than the hotel is available there. Also for those wondering, ayodya is infact than better nusa dua resort, its architecture is more traditional and intricate with beautiful carvings. The hotel lobby, a few restaurants and part of the spa was currently under renovation, so before u book make sure to ask which parts of the hotel are closed due to renovation.
I spent just over a week at the Ayodya Palace with my wife for our honeymoon and it was a fantastic week from every aspect. Also, due to a misunderstanding with our travel agent -which was resolved in a matter of minutes- we were initially checked in at the "standard" Ayodya, not the Palace, so I had the opportunity to see both types of rooms and compare. I must say both hotels are beautiful but it is definitely worth paying something extra to upgrade to a room at the Palace. In addition to everything else you get a more luxurious room and the chance to use the Palace's private pool where refreshments and snaks are served all day free of charge. You also get to have breakfast at the private pool which is pretty cool, plus the Palace is the closest you'll ever get to the beach. It even features a private Spa, just for Palace guests, although due to our excursions at the island we never had time to try it. Besides the palace, the whole setting at the Ayodya resort is magnificent, with a huge lagoon and a traditional Indonesian theatre in the middle, where there were shows almost every night, a masive pool and fantastic restaurants, all within the resort. We also had a chance to arrange for a private romantic dinner at the beach the last night. The entrance to the resort, with its massive fountain lakes and stone dragons, and the huge lobby is very very impressive, and the staff are very polite and friendly. Another plus is that the "Bali Collection", a beautiful shopping and dining complex at the Nusa Dua area, is only 10 minutes' walk from the resort which makes for a very pleasant evening walk. I haven't seen the other hotels at Nusa Dua but I would definitely recommend this one, especially the Palace.
Best hotel in Bali
Stayed athe Bali Hilton in for 14 nights in oct 05.
The service was great and the hotel enormous and grand .My patner and I went ouf for dinner most nights cause the main restaurant areas is nearby and less expensive that the hotel. The main shopping area is also very close and you can walk in the evening when is cooler or take a very cheap taxi. The spa at the hotel is very good but a bit pricey compare to other Bali spas just outside the hotel. The beach is really good and well kept with delicious snack and beverage you can enjoy long walks on the beach without worring about your purse under the sunchair cause staff is very honest and keeps on eye on your belongins all time. The breakfast restaurant is really to die for they serve all continental , English breakfast and delicious local fresh fruit and jam(papaya jam my favourite) and you can enjoy all this with a beutiful view of the sea in a relaxing surrounding.
The laguna of the hotel is full of tropical fishes, iguanas and tropical birds you can spend ours just admiring different species. Overall a fantastic stay in a beautiful and relaxing hotel and i would raccomendend to all cuples and honeymooners in search of a romantic tropical getaway! i have been in many 4-and 5 stars hotels around the world but i the bali hilton is the only one i would like to go back too any time. !!!!
Impressive place but ......
I stayed at the Ayodya Resort Dec 22 – 28, 2006. Occupancy was ridiculously low and the place felt empty. Generally, the resort presents an impressive façade. However, it appears that the rooms and general facilities are suffering due to the striking downturn in occupancy seen throughout Bali. We stayed in a Grande Ocean View Room (actually we had two rooms – since we are a family of four). Although very clean, the rooms are dated and due for refurbishing. Beds were comfortable.
Negatives - only petty things really. Grande Ocean View room occupants are to receive a fruit basket on arrival – we did not receive one even after calling the front desk. Should also have received 20 min of free internet access per room in the business center each day – had to argue with staff to avoid being charged. There is no ATM (cash machine) in the hotel which is unbelievable given its size and relatively isolated location. Breakfast – Sorry, but certainly not up to par with a hotel of this stature. There is a buffet breakfast provided but it is very, very basic in nature when compared to other similar hotels throughout Asia.
Positives – We enjoyed the large pool with plenty of loungers. The beach was very clean and the small group of vendors was kept at bay by a very clear delineation between the grassed hotel grounds and the sand beach. Vendors were not allowed to come on to the grass and pester the guests, although they did their best to pester guests from the sand !! The gardens, sculptures, waterfalls and lagoons are fantastic. Disregard the earlier comment regarding swimming in the lagoons. These lagoons are of course man made but have naturalized and are a very beautiful and unique part of the overall landscape master plan. There are birds, fish, lizards and other harmless things living in the lagoons which give the property a more authentic feel.
The staff were generally well behaved – no complaints there.
Overall we enjoyed out stay at the Ayodya. I was sorry to see the low occupancy and know that the hotel must be struggling to maintain standards.
I stay on BALI HILTON HOTEL ,on Nusa Dua beach.Fantastic breakfast, amazing room !!
it was wonderfull hotel, nice sandy beach on the open Indian ocean.
Nusa Dua was great place to stay, best 5stars hotels, quiet place, but actually better than Kuta place, which is more crowd, with nightlife. It depend what are you like .
Also nice romantic place for dinner looking the sunset is Jimpaban beach.
Very simple local restaurants on the beach(not luxury) with nice cheap seafood cuisine(lobsters and shimps) and very polite local personel, ready to drive you back to your hotel.
