We wanted Balinese culture, in Ubud, at a modest cost per night. This Bungalow complex is on the old Palace grounds, next to the famous Lotus Cafe. We have stayed there 4 times now.
I call the carved stone and bick facades "Bali Style". Absolutely beautiful ! Right in the middle of Ubud, walk to everything. Nightly dance performances right next door.
Unique Quality: The staff arranged a Balinese style wedding for us ( actually our 40 th Anniversary, vow renewal ). We subsituted a Christian minister, but all the royal dress and decorations, and music were Balinese.
Directions: Next to Lotus Cafe, and Puri Saren Palace
Each Bungalow has been remodelled to reflect traditional Balinese architecture. Lots of carved wood and stone. All sit in a tropical garden setting, in central Ubud. This land has always been in the hands of a Royal family, and a large lotus pond ( and the Lotus cafe) are next door, and well as the temple itself. We stayed there for a week, with a small group .. and all would return to saty again. We will return in Aug 2006 for a month.
Unique Quality: Royal Palace style accomodations. Absoluetly beautifully restored. Graden setting with lots of flowers. Long time staff ( like family). very helpful arranging day trips or dance/music performances ( nearby)
Directions: Central Ubud ( walking distance to everything in town)
