More about The Samaya
Samaya Villas - Perfect Honeymoon!
We just returned from a 10 day honeymoon at the Samaya Villas.
This place is by far the best place we have ever stayed.
Below is a few areas that stood out during our stay.
ROOMS - The Villas are immaculate and spacious. Each Villa has it's own plunge pool and is very convenient for a quick swim. (Main pool is also fantastic)
SERVICE - The service from start to finish is outstanding. Every staff member is so welcoming and friendly.
Our Villa was cleaned twice a day and each time we came back to find nice little touches like fruit platters, afternoon teas and little desserts!
The staff were always more than happy to help us organize tours and restaurant bookings etc
FOOD -The restaurant (named Breeze) is fine dining. Daily breakfast was included in the room cost and was fantastic (Loved the banana pancakes)
However, the restaurant is a little pricey compared to other restaurants in the area.
We would highly recommend the restaurant next door to the Samaya called LaLuciolla.
TRANSPORT - The resort has local drop off and pickup available to all guests. This was a great and came in very handy for short trips to shops, restaurants etc
We had the best time in Bali and The Samaya Villas were outstanding!
My husband and I stayed at The Samaya at the end of Jan 08 and absolutely loved it! If you're up for a week of lying by a pool in complete luxury The Samaya is for you.
We had a look at some of the other hotels in the area and none of them compared to The Samaya. The Samaya has more of contemporary feel about it with the Balinese influence. The Villas are beautifully decorated, the pool and it’s surrounds are divine and the restaurant is delicious.
The Liverpudlian Manager is a hoot! You’ll see him roaming around The Samaya making sure everything’s running smoothly. He’s usually perched at the bar around 6pm so be sure to sit down and have a Bintang with him.
We loved The Samaya and will definitely be staying there when we next get back to Bali.
A perfect romantic holiday!
I was staying at The Samaya for a week with my boyfriend. A bit regret to miss one-night-staying here because when we arrived, our travel agent booked us a room in other hotel--despite new, but the hotel is more like apartment rather than a place to relax. We felt so lucky, when we found The Samaya Villa at a local tourism book ! We decided to get there to have a look while having a dinner.
I'm a mushroom-lover and I found that mushroom soup at The Samaya was very--yummy--delicious! We had a chance to check the room and we were falling in love with it! My boyfriend and I mutually agreed to directly book a room at The Samaya that night after dinner and moved.
We packed and moved to The Samaya---that is more relaxing as we expected, comparing with first hotel we stayed. We never regret with our decision as we spent a wonderful time at this private place. Away from all the bad things and crowd out there, The Samaya is a perfect place indeed!
If you're willing to get a romantic holiday or honeymoon, I have no doubt to recomend The Samaya!
2nd Visit - more to come
AWESOME PLACE - we loved the Samaya - it was our second visit to the Samaya and love the place. Rooms are great, resort is brilliant, the restaurant is fantastic onsite. The surrounding areas also have great restaurants including upmarket Kudeta & Loluciana (excuse the spelling) and well priced local restaurants like Mykonos and Maccaroni.
Perfect in Every Way!
We stayed at the Samaya for 3 nights in January and had an incredible time. Highlights of our stay included:
-Lounging in the shade of one of the palms by the pool, reading, and listening to the waves break.
-Romantic meal at the restaurant (one of the best we had in Bali) and great breakfasts.
-Watching the sunsets while enjoying a drink.
-The large and clean private villa (especially nice bathrooms!!) with posh amenities.
-The incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The frontdesk staff saved the day when Bali Car Hire (a private car rental company) bailed on us. Left without transport, the staff did everything they could to find us alternative transportation.
-Taking a cooking class at Sate Bali, the restaurant right across from the Samaya. We highly recommend it. The dishes we made were delicious.
We OVER-enjoyed our 3 night stay at the SAMAYA early December 2007, confirming all the positive reviews that have been posted here. Go to their website and all the pictures are accurate, it is as beautiful as that.
Just a few photos we took and some tips to make your stay even more magical as you could wish.
1 – KITAS holders enjoy a 2.500.000 rupiahs all inclusive rate (breakfast and return transfers also included as standard offer). Which is roughly 100 USD discount on the villas.
2 – For sensitive ears, ask to avoid villas 117, 118, 221 and 223 as they are 10 m from main street. We had 117. At times you can hear motorcycles roaring round the corner. Traffic is far from crazy, but it makes sense to check. Also 110 and 111 are almost next door to LUCIOLLA restaurant, even if this restaurant has declined in quality, and charges premium price on the dishes, it still attracts crowds.
3 – We tested wonderful OSTERIA TELESE, 20 m to the right on main street when you leave the SAMAYA. The boss is a smiling Italian and he serves gorgeous dishes at down-to-earth-Indonesian-reality-price. Give it a try.
4 – If you cannot leave the internet alone while you are there, wireless access from the room can be bought by prepaid card at the reception. Or there is one computer open to all there too.
5 – Compared to the AHIMSA, where we stayed and paid the same price, we believe the SAMAYA is better. Because the AHIMSA is not on the beach, it takes a rough walk to be there. Also the area is not as nice and we were eaten alive by mosquitoes there, while nothing such happened at the SAMAYA. May be the beach front location has something to do with it.
6 – To get around, ask the convenient “drop and pick up” service provided free of charge to all staying guests. You can order this service up to 10 PM. After that, taxi can be reluctant to put the metre on, but they don’t ask the moon, say, 30.000 to central Semiyak, and 50 to Kuta.
Have done extensive web based research, I decided that the Samaya was the best value for money. The web site made the place look great! Being some what sceptical when it comes to web sites providing a great representation of what a hotel really looks like - I was very surprised on arrival… the Samaya web site does not really do the hotel justice! The service was impeccable and going for breakfast was a joy! The butler, concierge and their drivers were only too happy to assist! There was great shopping in near by seminyak but really there is no need to leave your villa. It was our honeymoon and we were upgraded to a villa with a jacuzzi and a raised dinning area that looked over the villa walls to a view of the ocean. Just perfect! The room was serviced twice a day and they took care not to bother you. The villas are very private. I found the best rates were through my travel agent - surprisingly beating all web based/hotel-direct rates I could find. I would also recommend the following local dinning: trattoria; sate bali (directly across the road from the hotel); kudeta (a funky bar/restaurant on the beach a short walk south along the beach) and Gado Gado (the hotel driver will drop you off and pick you up). We are looking forward to going back!
What can i say about the Samaya other than it was perfect in every way! I booked this resort for our honeymoon in Feb 08 and was in awe when we arrived. We were picked up from the airport and driven to the resort and given cold minty towels and iced water to freshen up on the car tip there. When we reached the resort we were greeted with Frangipani necklaces and were ushered to our villa. The villa was immaculate! There were petals arranged in love hearts on the path leading to our door and when we got inside the four poster bed had beautiful singapore orchids arranged on it and the bathroom, magnificaent! our Spa bath was filled and covered in frangipanis! VERY ROMANTIC! Our butlers were great! They did what ever was asked of them and never asked for a tip (but of course we tipped, when we had cash on us). The Breeze resturant was fantastic! the breakfast was the best especially the crispy bacon (it melts in your mouth). So in total, we absolutely enjoyed our 16 day stay in the Samaya, it was so quiet and we had the main pool practically all to ourselves every time we went! The photos on the resorts website just don't do it any justice, it is keep so well, and all the staff there are so friendly and are always wanting to assit you in booking day trips or resturants or drivers etc! I couldn't have asked for anything better! The weather on the other hand wasn't the best on our trip (but you can't expect much when it's Monsoon season!) we still made the most of it and it was a joy jusy spending time in our villa watching DVD's and floating in our own private plunge pool! I can't wait for the day we return to Bali and stay at The Samaya!
Amazing Stay Amazing Wedding
After months of searching for a place to say I Do, we both agreed that The Samaya would provide the perfect setting for our big day and we weren't dissappointed.
Organising everything via email and the occasional phone call was a little unnerving, however our incredible wedding co-ordinator Vendy promptly answered every question. Once in Bali we met with Vendy at the beautiful Breeze Restaurant to discuss the days schedule and also finalise the wine list and dinner menu.
On the day everything was organised perfectly (A hindu pray also assured no rain). Every detail no matter how small was taken care of, from the frangipani bouquet to the traditional balinese flower girls and the pink rose petal confetti that our guests threw. The food from the Breeze restaurant was amazing, as was the wine that complimented each course.
Regrettably we only stayed 5 nights, we wished we could have stayed longer!! Initially we stayed in a Pool Villa and then the Royal Pavilion. Both villas are very spacious, the bathroom offers couples a romantic experience on arrival, with a petal filled bath. For an extra special stay try the Royal Pavilion for the outdoor jacuzzi, huge plunge pool, ocean views and extra space.
Be sure to head down to Breeze Restaurant for a beautiful breakfast on the beach (If you can drag yourself away from your villa).
After reading the reviews on this site we were expecting a memorable stay, especially my wife who has a rather high standard when it comes to accomodation and service. The Samaya surpassed all expectations and was everything and more.
Thank you to Vendy, Ray and all the staff at The Samaya for making our Wedding and Stay a magical one. We look forward to coming back next year.
Just returned from 10 days at The Samaya, and must say that the hours and hours of research we did to find the "perfect" place to stay in Bali resulted in a fabulous, pampered holiday. We travel frequently and have learnt to be disappointed, but this was definitely not the case here.
We were upgraded after the 1st night to the Royal Pavilion and I can say that while the room size is the same as the Pool Villa rooms, the extras outside are what made our holiday even more special. We had a great view looking out over the main pool and beach area, but still had absolute privacy in our pool and spa in which we spent many hours. We took our ipod and mini speakers which made the time by our private pool more enjoyable. The private gardens and grounds are immaculately kept.
All the staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them and we enjoyed afternoon tea delivered to our room by our butler on many occasions. We used the shuttle service they offered and where taken and picked up from local restaurants to as far away as Kuta for shopping at Discovery Mall.
The manager Ray is very welcoming and often checks to see if your holiday is running smoothly, also helping with excursion suggestions.
The rooms are very beautiful and spacious and the air conditioning works extremely well, we were never hot in our room. The room was cleaned twice a day, and each time more bottled water was delivered, there were at least 10 bottles at all times.
The restaurant is of a very high standard, we ate out at lots of different restaurants and found Breezes to be just as good as the others we ate at including Ku De Ta, La Lucciocina & The Legian. Just wonderful seating to dinner watching the most perfect sunsets! We would recommend all the above restaurants and also the sushi lounge Fresh found in the main road, it was wonderful!
The spa was also another highlight, we went for the 2.5 hr couples "Bliss" treatment, it was so good we couldn’t resist a 2nd treatment on our last day there.
We will definitely be returning to The Samaya and would recommend it to any fussy travellers.
