Hi, I am not able to book Hotel Santika Bandung. Can someone please recommend an alternative hotel which is close to the shopping areas (within walking distance)? Thank you so much! BTW is end March a peak season in Bandung?
Hi,
Unfortunately it is rather common that you cannot the smaller hotels through the internet or even by phone from abroad. Usually that is not a problem, as they are seldom fully booked.
But 20 through 23 March is a long weekend in Indonesia (and in Malaysia as well I suppose), Thursday being Maulid Nabi Muhamad saw and the remainder Easter weekend. So on these dates you may expect Bandung to be rather crowded with shoppers from Jakarta.
If you come later than 23 March, you should not have any difficulty in finding a neat room. I do not have information on any specific hotel.

I will be at Bandung from 26-29 March & the alternative recommended hotel is Novotel. Since I am planning to rent a van, I think Novotel is ok.
this weekend is a peak session as thursday and friday is national holiday.
If you want Hotel near shopping center, try: (order from cheap to more expensive)
- Royal Dago --> in Jalan Dago...many FOs along the street
- Grand Serella --> Near Jalan Riau where there is Heritage and The Summit FO ang many more
- Grand Setiabudi Apartment --> near Rumah Mode
- Holiday Inn --> in Jalan Dago...many FOs along the street
Thanks for your suggestion! I have booked Aston Tropicana.

First it's a hawker stall, then becomes a small resto. Situated nearby NHI [Tourism and Hotel Insitute in Bandung] and sell many types of Javanese pancake. In Sundanese called 'surabi' but in central Java known as 'serabi'. Choose your own topping, from traditional flavor 'till international. From oncom [Sundanese tempe] to sausage, cheese and chocolate toppings.
Though I did not have one, it is indeed one of the opportunities that should not be miss! At IDR12,000 per adult, you have a choice of having your hot bath in the natural environment - any suits apply - or opt to swim in the swimming pool where additional fee is expected here and swim suits requirement applies!
The cooling weather in Bandung made the water bearable to the body. For those with hypertension, diabetes or heart problem, do be cautious when you decided to take the hot bath here. Doctors' consultation is highly recommended. There is a huge signage reminding the visitor's on this.
Sari Ater Hot Spring is worth a visit if not for the bath at least for the scenery! The least you can do is soak your tired feet in the foot bath pool before the next shopping trip in the city!
For Moslems, a prayer room or Musholla as it was called in Bandung, is available. The Restaurant serves Sunda food. No comments on the dishes serves as I did not have my lunch here.
Do look out for the flora here as well. I'm not sure what the flower is called but I refer it as 'The Trumphet' due to its shape & size!
4This ts a nice city about 1H30 mins or more from Jakarta Traffic permitting with the new highway from Jakarta to bandung. It`s a very nice city with alot cooler weather than Jakarta which is refreshing. Also it`s know as the Paris of Java and surely believe that Bandung made me a shopperholic hahaha Dago Street is name never to be forgot when shopping there as there is many factory outlets to choose from. One thing that I didn`t like was all the one way roads which gave me abit of hard time but you`ll get your way around there the more you drive around there.
I was lucky enough to visit Kawah Putih in Ciwidey which is about 1 hours drive or even 2 hours from Bandung depends on traffic. The road is very beautiful and the scenary is very nice as you`ll be driving up some mountains there to get to Kawah Putih. Also there is alot of Strawberry farms among the rice fields and the strawberry`s in my book is a must when visiting this area. Also it`s much cool than Bandung when at Kawah Putih but it`s really beauitul as it`s a crater ontop of the mountain and the colour of the water in the crater is apple green because of the Sulphur.
