Check this website:

http://gudeg.net/index_kereta.php?lang_ver=eng

Some trains which run from Jakarta to Surabaya or Solo might stop in Bandung & Yogya as well. check with the train station about this.

Some trains are in bad condition - dirty. Their ticket price usually is much cheaper than the good ones.

There are several executive trains from Bandung to Yogyakarta. Some depart in the morning, some depart in the evening (arrive past midnight).

Turangga (all-executive), IDR 155000/person, depart 18:30, arrive past 01:00

Complete schedule of other trains (in Bahasa Indonesia):

Book in advance days earlier at Reservation Office located outside station, next to outer north gate (Jalan Kebon Kawung).

Travel Tips for Bandung

Lake Lembang

by theo1006

The common approach to Tangkubanprahu Volcano is from the west. How many visitors know that this volcano is one of twin mountains, the other one named Burangrang lying west of Tangkubanprahu?
In the saddle between the two mountains lies an artificial lake, Situ Lembang, created by the Dutch colonial government by building a dam across Ci Mahi river, in order to ensure the water supply for the city of Bandung.
It takes some effort to get there, and because of that the lake is relatively unspoilt (certainly compared to Situ Patenggang near Pangalengan south of Bandung). The army has a base camp here for survival training. When it is occupied, the access road will be blocked after 3.4 km. But chances are that you have to walk the last 5.5 km anyhow, unless you come with a four-wheel drive.

You may meet a few locals fishing in the lake or bathing in the river outlet below the dam. There is a signboard saying 'no swimming', but if you can swim at all why take notice? Else try trekking around the lake. You may even want to climb Tangkubanprahu from here, but that is easier done through Sukawana plantation.

Directions: From the Ledeng terminal (on the road to Lembang) take Jalan Sersan Bajuri to Cisarua. A short distance beyond Cisarua market the road bends 90 degrees to the left. At this point instead go right, you pass under a porch with the word KOMANDO. From here it is 9 km to Situ Lembang along a road in bad repair.
We parked our car after 3.4 km at the road block near a few simple warungs. The walk from here goes slightly uphill and may take five quarters of an hour.
At a second signboard KOMANDO you have about 20 minutes left to walk. When you are almost there, a path to the right leads to the survival training camp. Do not take this, but keep left up a ridge from where you reach the lake.

Another Local treat

by lukluk_wal_marjan about Bumbu Desa

This restaurant serves another Local Indonesian cooking called SUNDA.

Before scouting for your seats, you need to select your dish to be eaten with the white rice. They got fish, prawns, chicken, squids....the list is endless and the one that I love most was lots and lots and lots of raw vegetables called ULAM .

Some dishes are freshly cooked just after you placed your order.

Surrounding is beautiful & good for meeting with friends. Bringing your kids should not be an issue since there is a playground for them. And its located within 'RUMAH MODE' Factory Outlets area.

Ample parking spaces provided.

Freshly fried chicken, freshly fried squids with plenty of the fresh 'ULAM'

Ciater hot water spring

by ukirsari

Sulphur fumes which make your skin clean from the diseases. You can swim while bathing in the hot water pool. The ticket approximately Rp. 11,000,- and you can swim as long as you can. Just beware in the peak season (weekened and holidays), because you can not swim ... there's too many people there! And around the pools, you can find the hilly and greeny areas of Parahyangan plateau.

Bandung in West-Java

by theo1006

"Bandung where?"

What a mix-up! I select Bandung in West-Java Province and end up posting a tip on Bandung in East-Java Province. And so did most VT-ers writing tips on Bandung.
Indonesia has seven places named Bandung, but there is only one tourist destination Bandung. It is in West-Java, two hours drive from Jakarta via the toll-road. You find it when you select Bandung in Indonesia, but only a minority of VT-ers posted tips here.
If you want to browse all tips on Bandung you have to visit both entries.
