Its all about flowers!
by lukluk_wal_marjan
Flowers are blooming everywhere...at least at those places I passed along the way to Cihidung.... errrr...not sure about the spelling though Anyways, the road is actually on the way to the famous Sapu Lidi Restaurant.
Initially, I went 'crazy' on the way up to Tangkuban Perahu. The nurseries along the road with all the COLORFUL blooms....got me go WAHHH...OHHHH....AHHHH.... Its so so so beautiful! SO the next day, the supir which means driver in Bahasa Indonesia; drove me up to this area.
Its like a small medium industry where the people concentrates purely on nurseries. There are flowers - lilies, roses - in all sort of colours!, daisies etc - , bonsai and much much more.
Blessed with good soils and temperate weather, Bandung apart from being called as Paris van Java is also paradise for flowers lovers!
Looking at the houses of the owners...they sure made good money!!!!
Fresh strawberry juice and Nasi Timbel BMC
by ukirsari about Bandoengsche Melk Centrale [BMC]
The resto situated in an renovated old building. Nice but sometimes I think the color is not the best [since the wall painted pink ... so pinky]. But the menu are two thumbs up. Fresh strawberry juice. No preservative added [without milk also, great!]. And Nasi Timbel Komplet [hot steamed rice wrapped in banana leaf, fresh veggie, sweet and sour soup, fried chicken, tofu and tempe and salty fish, plus chilli sauce].
UP-SIDE DOWN BOAT!
by lukluk_wal_marjan
I guess most if not all Bandung pages have this tip - A visit to Tangkuban Perahu Volcanoe!
An entrance fee need to be paid upfront and the rates differ between local & foreign tourist.
If u can pass as local tourist u only need to pay Rp10,000/pax (less than USD 2). Somehow I pass as local tourist from Jakarta....hehehehe... If not its will cost slightly higher.
The volcanoe was name as it is due to its shape if seen from far. Tangkuban Perahu when directly translated is UP-SIDE DOWN BOAT.
If I'm not mistaken there are about 12 craters in total. Some craters are still active and a few are off to tourist since they produce toxic gas. At a fee for the guide, u may venture down to the center of the crater. You can also hike-up the mountain. You need at least 2 hours to complete the round and of course a fit body!
There are also rows of stalls selling some handmade crafts. You can test your bargaining skills here!
The story behind the mountain can be obtained here
It's not easy to reach your destiny by "angkot"
by kilat
Well, all the angkot-driver will tell you to get in their angkot. But they will not reach your destination. You have to get out and take another angkot, which also will not reach your destination.
The trick is: ask a passenger which angkot you need before you get in.
tell the driver immediately that you will not pay if you not reach your destination.
