by belgianchocolate There must have been water in front of the barak. But it was gone now. A little rock garden , a nice terrace to enjoy the sunset above the sea. First room was the living room , quit large , with a tv and some rotan furniture. I must say , one night we had company... Some fast moving insects came from under the door making large circles , chasing each other. I was quit amuzed...untill one of those little creeps jumped on my leg....
In the back was the bedroom , with air conditioning. A bit noizy but it worked very well. Almost essential if we want to sleep. (I'm don't even sleep in the summer in Belgium) Clean? Yes the place was clean. One thing is , it isn't like a hotel. The rooms didn't got cleaned once , even if we had to leave the key every day. (so if you put the sand from your shoes next to the bed , it stays there.lol) Also , breakfast , which I think was included... Forget about it. I think the guy was a little bit lazy. But he did arrange our trip to Bandung and yes , the trip to the green canyon was also booked and payed in advance in his office. by belgianchocolate The bathroom and toilet is also a story on it's own... It is outside. Hidden between two bakars there is the shower and the toilet. One evening I've spotted a little animal between the soil on the floor at the side of the fake rock wall. It was quit a cute little animal that didn't noticed my presence neither got bothered by it. It wasn't a rat. I was thinking more like a mole...
The best thing was the vieuw from the terrace... That was unpayable. One could here the sea from here. And the privacy was also very nice. What did we pay? 150 000 IR , about 15 euro for a night. Quit a reasonable price...but I gets higher in the weekends and the touristic high season. Theme: OtherAddress: Jalan pamugaran bulak laut 8

Teratai Hotel by DidiBeachBum Hotel Teratai is located just 2 minutes walk to the beach and the cafes along the beach. It has a big garden in the middle and there are a few rooms available to stay. You can order meals or you could go to the local fish auctionary and ask them to cook for you. It's an affordable and decent place to stay and the owner's family who also live there are very friendly. hotel-pangandaran-westjava by RoyJava This hotel resort is situated in the seaside of beautiful Pangandaran. Only 10 minutes a walk from Bus station or its Pangandaran Gate. 3 Class facilities of rooms; Bungalows - Standard - Economic We enjoyed the AC rooms, so tastefully furnished with a charming blend of the traditionale and the modern. Other facilities include TV, air phone, laundry, European toilet.
Surrounded by the ocean you hear the waves breaking on either side of the peninsula which relax the spirit. The bungalows get visited by locals who sell all kind of food, fruit, drinks and knick-knack souvenirs. They move in the well-known slow way and, always in the mood for a chat when speaking a bit of Bahasa Indonesian. They love to hear where you come from... "Dari mana?" and where you're going to ... "Mau ke mana?" *smile*

This is a well-known backpacker's guesthouse/hostel which is right next to a river delta that flows into the ocean, so you have the option of swimming in the river or the sea. I'm torn as to whether or not to recommend this guesthouse; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and received great hospitality from the owner Agus and his wife. But, a few days after we left we noticed that a large sum of money had gone missing from our bags, and it seemed logical that it was one of the guesthouse staff who stole it (only one other couple was staying there at the time, and they did not have access to our room). This was not the only time money was stolen from our hotel room in Indonesia (see the Warnings or Dangers tip on my Indonesia page). If it wasn't Agus then I would hate to falsely accuse him, so I'll just let you make up your own mind and suggest that you keep an eye on your valuables. In any case, the bungalows are great value, the decor is very interesting (Agus is an artist), and the food is excellent.
The artwork of the owner Agus "Gecko" is on display all over the grounds, and he is more than happy to discuss art with anyone interested. He will also allow any aspiring artists to use the materials in his studio for a small fee. His wife can cook up a huge feast of great seafood upon request, or she can also supply the usual Indonesian basics of fried rice and noodles. The becaks in Pangandaran are apparently run by a sort of mafia and will demand commission from the owners of the guesthouse, even if it was your own choice to stay there. Our becak driver tried to convince us to go to a different place, perhaps just because it would have been a shorter distance for him to peddle. In any case, insist that they take you to the guesthouse of your choice and nowhere else.
