    We called it paradise. As there were not many tourists at the time we were there, it was very quiet and nice to relax. A hotel located on the beach, with all ameneties, fully equiped. We even had a private outside bathroom in the garden....

    Wonderfully located in a beautiful garden along the beach. Very nice pool with relaxing chairs and towels, pool restaurant and bar. Bubble bath. Fully equiped rooms, TV, airco, coffee and tea, bar, private outside garden bathroom, terrace,
    I could recommend this strongly for a honeymoon. They serve a very romantic dinner with candle light at a separate table hidden behind white curtains, in the garden, with a wonderful view at the sunset, the beach and the sea. O ! I wished it were mine....

    • I think it is now just the holiday Inn Resort - I don't think it is now part of the Holiday Inn group - perhaps it once was!

    This is a great hotel - lovely garden facing/sea facing rooms and a set of pools that are kind of an ellipse with a bar at one end of the pool - you can swim AND take a drink.

    Lovely gardens - all rooms had a balcony too, the ones on the first floor were the sea facing and cost Rp 100,000 more (low season). We paid Rp. 450,000 for the standard 2 bed room (all inclusive) - that is just under USD $50

    Sumptuous Breakfast for 2 included - decent choice of meals. On a fri they had the dinner buffet which was good - for a total of Rp. 100,000 otherwise entrees were about Rp 50,000 each. They also have a Tex-mex options after lunch.

    They have table tennis, outdoor chess (that you lift up pieces to play) and beach front right put front. But the beach seemed steeply sloped and my 6 yr old daughter was scared to go in. Since it is a coral beach, walking barefut is NOT a good idea - get along one of those synthetic/rubber water shoe/slippers. Beware of vendors who mob you if you are anywhere near the beach. Whatever they say, never pay more than half of it - even then you'll be overpaying.

    Everything at thehotel is charged to the room so no need to carry wallet. Leave currency and passports with lockers (behind reception)

    English TV channels, bicycle rental, tennis courts too, pool tables/billiards, overpriced massages, decent bar...make use of the free lockers at reception when you check in.

    Internet access available but SLOW (esp. uploads) - they charge like Rp 15,000 for half an hour - do it late night (open 24 hours)

  • Directions: about 25 mins north west of the airport. Pre paid taxi from airport was Rp 70,000 as I came in - on the way back I booked a bluebird (Lombok Taksi) - cost me Rp 40,000. Dont book thru their website...

    • We've been in Lombok in the summer of 2004 for 2 weeks. The hotel is wonderful, with spacious rooms facing either the ocean or the beautiful gardens (it's your choice).
    The price is quite low given the highest standards of accomodation and service.
    And the island is great.

    • Clean & comfortable beachfront hotel, it was a quieter Bali.

    The Holiday Inn Senggigi is located on the famous Senggigi beach on Lombok island. I stayed for 4 nights at this resort in January 1998 in a cottage room.

    The unique feature about this resort is the bathroom. It is located outside the cottage in a private bathroom such that when you have your bath, you are in natural surroundings.

    We stayed for a week in a family apartment which was great as it had two bedrooms and a big living/dining area plus three balconies. The apts are set back across the road from the main resort so you don't get a sea view, but we only ever sat out there at night and we couldn't see the sea then anyway!

    The resort was good and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There were a couple of restaurants and bars including a pool bar and you could charge most things to your room if you want to. I found the food and drink at the resort to be expensive (compared to Singapore where I live), but most people I spoke to who'd come from Europe and beyond thought it was quite reasonable. The food was usually very tasty and well presented (although sometimes portions were a little on the small side!) but the Asian food was toned down for more western tastes so we often asked for extra spice.

    The resort is situated on the west coast and there are often great views over to Mt Agung in Bali, which makes for a good sunset photo. The beach is fairly clean and empty but unfortunately the hawkers are annoying and much more persistant than any I've come across in places like Thailand - as soon as you set foot on the beach they'll hurry towards you and in some cases won't go away again!

    The sea looks inviting but it is quite rough and only really suitable for adults who swim well - snorkelling is supposed to be good there but you have to get past the surf first and I didn't bother as I'd forgotten my reef shoes and it was too rough to see what you were stepping on. Sadly it wasn't a good beach for children because of the rough surf, so people with small children might prefer to stick to the pool or stay somewhere with calmer seas.

    To get into Sengigi it's a 5 min taxi ride which was around 20,000 IDR (about 1.90 US$) but Sengigi is a bit of a dump so you might find that you don't want to go there too often.
