Temple 'Donations' and Guide Fees
by batgirl1001
If you visit the villages or temples in Lombok, you need to pay either an entry fee (which is stated) or a 'donation fee' which gives you flexibility on how much to pay.
Generally I pay around 2500-5000R for a donation especially if I have to wear a sash around me when visiting the temple.
There will always be a local guide for the temple. Even if you go for an organised tour, you still have to pay the temple guide as the tour agent will not enter the temple.
This is because, they wish to give the local temple guides some income as well. Usually the tour is around 10 mins and the guide is quite informative and chatty. Plus they speak English.
A recommended fee is around 10,000R for the short tour.
Diving in Lombok-The dream come true! Day 1
by canicus
Day 1
We were picked up early in the morning by the bus from DD and were sent to our Confined water training in the Sheraton in Senggigi.
Arrived at the Dive Base and were met by Rolf Michels (Dive Instructor). Rolf led the theory and the knowledge quizzes. We were then put to task in the confined water training. Suffered some bruises and cramp but all was fine and fun!
It’s hard to find a Instructor who is patient and fun. But Rolf was all that and more! He had a sense of humor and the training was lively and fun! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to take the OWD course.
Completed all training, was given extra homework and off we went back to the hotel!
Flight
by teollo
we came back to bali by plane. it costs much more (about 30-40 euro, not so much), but it took from hotel to hotel 5 hours and not 12 hours like the bus + boat..............we arrive in benoa where we stay the last 5 days. the flight takes about 30 minutes. planes are small and safe. watch out in summer it could be difficult to find a plane!
Who needs more ?
by cadzand about Beach restaurant
Who needs more for lunch ? A quiet place on the beach, a delicious local dish, an individual mini-barbecue, a Hatten wine rosé, a bottle of fresh water, feet in the sand, a view over the Senggigi beach.... This is all I need an I appreciate a lot.
Wildlife spotting
by Loops
we saw some excellent wildlife around Lombok. The first was when snorkelling and we saw turtles swimming along happily. Sitting on the upstairs balcony of our apartment one night while it was quiet I also saw a Binturong (bearcat) walking across the grass and then it disappeared up a tree when someone walked up the path towards it. Lastly we were out around the south (Tanjung Ann beach) and came across a sea snake curled up in a small rock pool waiting for the tide to come in (they're very venomous so I'm glad we saw it before we got any closer).
