Another great resort in Mangsit, Lombok. A new resort, spacious room, king bed, lovely indoor/outdoor bathroom, very comfortable, excellent staff, great food, good spa, reading loung with internet, cabanas on the ocean, i couldn't fault this resort
Unique Quality: Everything was new and clean, the staff couldn't do enough for you, very relaxing. I swam in the ocean but there was a lovely pool.

Hello Everybody
I will be going to Lombok to trek Rinjani whereafter I will have 5 spare days.
Can anyone recommend whats good to do there and where to go for diving, beaches and other kind of fun.

Did not climb Rinjani so nothing on that but if you like diving & snorkeling, the Gilis would be a great place for some R&R. White pristine beaches+clear turquoise waters. Lovely.
Have a page on Lonbok if you care to take a look and see if the tips are useful....
AGree there...head over to the Gili Islands. Spend the 5 days there to really relax and chill out. Diving is lovely...like in an aquarium. Awesome.
If you want something else than chilling out...headout to Bali to party.
That's what i used to do...a few days in Lombok to really rest up and than hitting the clubs in Kuta. Great fun.
There are 3 Gilis around the area (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno & Gili Air)
If you like beach party then go to Gili Trawangan
If you like Quiet place Gili Meno & Gili Air

take a cheap snorkeling boat trip.

A good value trip which includes some beach time for lunch.
Across the road from Pusuk Pass parking is a small sign pointing to the temple Pura Manik Sari. Although it was raining, we thought to seek it out. It was half a km of sopping wet forest path. We met some Hindu people returning from their devotion, trying to negotiate the path on motorbike: walking seemed easier.
When you pass a little waterfall (see picture) you are almost there. A temple built on a rock at a spot where two brooks come together. Quite an attractive place, even in the rainy season.

The seafood on the islands is caught that day and is superb and cheap!!!!!
The Blue Marlin is probably the best restaurant, they do loads of fish and you can pick which one you want from a selection on a rack by the street. They also do chicken. I had chicken one night and about 10 minutes after ordering, the waiter came out and said 'sorry sir, our chicken will be a while, we have to catch and pluck the chicken'....now thats fresh! And it only cost 20,000R, £1.30.
This is a trip you cannot miss. Rent a car (with or without a driver, but pay attention - they drive on the left side of the road!) and, after about 1 hour driving to the up-center of the island, you will enter a forrest where you can see lots of funny monkeys playing next to the road or even on the road. They usually stay there because tourists often stop there and feed them.
Don't forget to take some peanuts or biscuits with you. Avoid taking bannanas, as they will all attack you (at least I was told so by the locals).
The monkeys are pretty small (not taller than a Cocker, let's say) and really funny-looking.
Gili means island, Near Lombok there are 3 popular gili : Trawangan, Meno and Air, the biggest one is Gili Trawangan, it's almost no noise during the day, people are lying on the beach, sometimes boats are passing bring the divers but except that we feel like back to nature, no car or motorcycle (only horse cart and bicycle).
Everything was new and clean, the staff couldn't do enough for you, very relaxing. I swam in the ocean but there was a lovely pool.
