Ray Hotel is actually a basic motel... there is no TV in the room..just a basic motel with fan or AC, bed but attached bathroom. The price is basic too!
Nervertheless, if u take the AC room, you will get free pancake breakfast and coffee or tea. To go to the sengigi beach from Ray, u have to cross the road and walk thru a small lane beside Lina Hotel.
The staff is nice and accomodating with beautiful landscape around the compound.
I am recommending this hotel but according to my personal opinion, it is a better deal to stay at Lina Hotel just across the road to be your staying place in Sengigi. Lina's room facing the sea with cheaper rate than Ray's.
Lina is also the point where you can take private boat to the Gilis islands.
Ray have room on top of the hill, and from top of the hill you can have a good command view to one part of sengigi beach.
i stayed for 4 days here...really nice inn...i choosed to stayed in places that have water heater cos i like enjoying bath at night time with gecko...hahaha...it bigger with big sounds...
very traditional view, sea view, traditional food with eating traditional style,d.i.y tea/coffee in the morning or evening,so relaxing,
Probably rated as the second
best place to stay on Gili
after Villa Ombak,
this brand new resort
offers 12 deluxe bungalows
including a 4 bedroom one.
Rooms have TV & DVD,
and there is a fresh water swimming pool.
Prices range from 150,000 Rp to 2,500,000 Rp
We booked for 3 nights at Mimpi Manis & ended up staying 2 weeks, then coming back again a week later! The owners Gemma (english) & Made (Indo) are great, they really made our stay special, taking us to local beaches that we never would have got to on our own. We got to go to wedding too which was an experience all of its own!
When we were leaving they even grilled a fish for us on our last night for no charge. They seem to enjoy our holiday almost as much as we did! Staying here is like staying with an old freind, not at a hotel.
This place isn't on the beach but Gemma & Made drive you wherever you want to go so its ok & you dont have to deal with the touts that hang around the beach hotels. And if you spend all day at the beach you don't need to be there at night too.
The rooms are small but very clean, new & modern. For this price in Asia it was one of the best value places we stayed. Less than $7 for a double room including Made's delicious banana pancakes for breakfast! There's a dvd player in the room but to be honest we didnt watch much because we played some Indonesian card game most nights. If you loose you get lipstick daubed on your face. Hilarious!!
We couldnt recommend this place enough.
We will be back in 2007!
The people are what make this place so good. Unfailing humour & goodwill In everything they do. Plus the honest insight they can give you into life in Indo>
The best part of this place is the fablous seaside restaurant and where sensational sunset come free with the starter.Just across the street is Perama Ofiice and Marina Cafe. The hotel is quiet and the staff are friendly too.
Room start with -INR75000, A/C and private bathroom.
Great seaview and lovely evening sunset....What else??
It has a large compound and leads directly to the beach. Ideal for lazing around for days. If you enjoy roofless bathroom, most of Lombok's accomodation are designed to be such. Dharmarie also has a roofless spacious bathroom and its rooms are equally big. A very pleasant place to spend the holidays.
If you are making a side trip once or making arrangements while you are already in Indonesia, try to do so through your current hotel. They may be able to book you with a "locals's price". If you call yourself, they will most definately book you with the inflated foreigner's price.
Most of the hotels in the Gilis are cheap to stay at
(30000 - 60000 rupiah a night for fan
and cold water, 100,000 upwards for air con,)
Prices range around:
Budget 3 – 10 US dollar
MidRange 13 – 35 US dollar
TopEnd 65 – 1000 US dollar
Note: Showers are in salt water. Good for the skin!
This is a place we stay in Gili Trawangan. It was directly in front of the neach but situated quite far from the crowd and the jetty. It can take 30 minutes walking from the jetty and 15 minutes walking from the swimming beach (The swimming beach was near of Almarik Hotel) Nevertheless we actually chose the place because of the secludedness and the children-free promise. Strictly grown ups policy. We were staying in the graden bungalow with aircon facing the sea. We' prefer the upstair one which was a loft, lumbung like and has a sort of balcony but it doesn't have aircon and I just can't live without aircon. View-wise the place is excellent... we can see the nice sunset from out hotel. The food is great - nice free breakfast. Had dinner under the star one night in of the Bale facing the sea - had a grilled red snapper, so yummie (me who don't usually like fish, managed to finish one by myself). The owner is a balinese and a Canadian. The Lady is soooo nice, chatty and helpful. She is ensuring that all her guests are enjoying their time. There is a good snorkeling spot just in front of the hotel. Last time we came they were building a swimming pool (i think it's done by now) and installing a hot water thing for the hot shower.
i had a very very pleasant sty there, from there wehere the boat enters the "harbour" just turn right and take a horsecar or walk (depens on wheter you come from rinjani or not) the 500meters. on the left hand the hotels are either ugly or nice but expensive (old people should go to the left therefor, backpakers better right).
sunrise bungalows has four nice bungalows in the backyard. the baech is just over the street.
nice people and they decorate their places well done!
they have great beach and this reggae jungle party every wednesday night. its fun you should go there at least one of your lifetime! hahaha
ermm, not the very best but at least it is cheaper. Bargaining is a must. paid for about Rp2,500 for a room with double bed and bathroom inside. But, dont expect that you could get better than Intan Lombok Village for that price. heheh
The picture captured is the travel agent office where the homestay is located in the backside.
Great place to relax away from the noise of Sengigi. Good atmosphere & rooms, very social (everyone must eat at the same table) and very reasonable.
cheap..clean..comfortable..friendly people...everything's fine there.
air conditioner, refrigerator, sea view, double bed, nice chat with everyone, near everywhere..for cheap price.
Great food, ac, room service, nice pool area, cable (albeit limited) and a sea view. It sits perched up on a hill and when the fishing boats are out it is a panorama worth seeing. Senggigi has a pretty gritty beach tho it is worth seeing, so the pool area is a welcome break. A green peppercorn steak imported from New Zealand is a nice way to take lunch. The place is pretty upscale but it is tough to get a hotel full in Indo, so bargain hard, but do it with a self deprecating grin and you may do fairly well. Aggressive bargaining doesn't work too well in Indo. I got the price down to about $11 US a nite and it was well worth it!
View, pool, good restaurant
