Best on Gili T
by juliezzz
We stayed for 3 nights in a Superior Lumbung and just loved this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room and lovely outdoor bathroom immaculate and the grounds and facilities very well maintained. Breakfast offered different local dishes each day with tropical fruit and the usual other buffet fare. Unlike the GoodHeart where we stayed previously, you could not hear the 5am morning prayers from Ombak, and the resort is in a quiet location close to all of the best restaurants. We wanted for nothing and will definitely return. Gili is low key and the water is clean and clear. The seafood BBQs at night are excellent, and if you hanker for something different for breakfast I can recommend the BeachHouse which is perched right over the water. This is a romantic and rustic little island and Ombak at 4 stars seems to be the most luxurious resort here. Despite the rack rates, we just turned up at reception (low season) and paid 600,000 rupiah per night (A$75).
Unique Quality: Bali style lumbung huts with sensational outdoor bathrooms, lovely grounds and excellent staff.
Directions: Left from the boat ramp on the main strip.

Upscale in a Rustic Way
by balisunshine
One, if no the most upscale
hotel to stay in Gili is at Vila Ombak.
This sister hotel of Lumbung Hotel in Bali
is composed of rustic Bungalow/Lembongans
scattered on the grounds decorated with flowers.
The property itself is at the southern end of the island
at the end of the tourist strip, in front of the sea.
The 36 bungalow huts themselves are 2 stories high,
– 12 superior lumbung huts have an open air living area complete with large day bed, hammock and table and chairs downstairs,
and the (smallish) sleeping area upstairs under a thatch roof.
Outside the bedroom is a large balcony with loungers.
The semi open air bathroom is downstairs
accessed by a ladder directly from the bedroom.
The 12 deluxe lumbung huts have larger sleeping and living area
and the semi open-air bathroom access is via a proper staircase.
Decoration is pleasant, all have air con,
TV with a good number of cable channels,
mini bar/fridge, in room safe and phone.
Showers provide salt water and
a large jug contains fresh water to rinse off.
These bungalows have great charm.
The hotel has constructed in
the far northern part of the property
a more modern style of rooms
all located on the ground floor.
These particular room are
more expensive than the bungalows,
but with a fraction of the charm.
Prices vary according to season,
and when not busy, it can be negotiated.
But usually anywhere between $80 - $150 USD.
Breakfast is composed delicious buffet
including fruits, eggs, pastries, etc.
No natural juices though.
Only the kind that come from a can.
When booking, you can pay additional
to be met by a driver at the airport and
be driven on a scenic 50 minute or so hike up the coast
via Sengiggi to a small private harbor just south of Bangsal
to join the hotel speedboat for the 15/20 minute ride to the island.
You will pull up on the beach
in front of the hotel and walked
a few steps to your welcome drink and room key.

So quaint
by nabunay
The huts are so quaint. Room is small but cozy. To get to the personal bathroom, there's a stair leading from the room to a floor down. Bathroom is roofless concept and it's spacious. The villa is tucked at the end of the 'happening' stretch of the road. So it offers some quietness and privacy yet at the same time, within easy accessibility and distance to the activities happening around. Friendly and smiley staffs too. A very lovely place to stay!

Luxury on Gili Trawangan
by xuessium
This is based on the review of my friends who stayed at this hotel on Gili Trawangan.
They love it as the hotel is on the beach itself with a grand view of the sea. They were very surprised that the bathroom and washrooms were open-air concept which means you bathed literally under the stars. Rest assured though that precautions had been made to keep the prying eyes of peeping toms away.
Unique Quality: The open-air concept of the bathroom and washrooms.

trip to Gili Islands
by jamesywilson
Is it easy to get from Bali to Lombok and unto Gili Islands in one day? or is it worth stopping overnight at e.g. Jayakarta hotel?
RE: trip to Gili Islands

HI! James:
You can fly over from Bali - it's the most expensive but the fastest.
Or you'll have to make your way across Bali to its eastern side and take a ferry across to Lombok.
My friends did that and they complained that the cross-island path of Bali is not the most comfortable.
If you are really looking for a romantic spot, why not stay extend your stay and make your way to the Gilis and vege out? Try Vila Ombak on Gili Trawangan. My friends stayed there and they came back full of praises.....

As I know it's easy to go to Lombok from Bali
Since bounty cruise already stop their service Bali (benoa harbour) - Lombok
I suggest by airflight, it's take only about 30-45 mins by merpati airlines
from the airport you can go to bangsal port to take you to gili trawangan
Or if you want to stay on Senggigi beach, I suggest for Qunci Vilas Resort or The Oberoi Resort if you're on honeymoon trip
Have a nice trip,
Rini

The flight from NgurahRai AirPort to Mataram Lombok now is cheap, it take 30 minutes. you'd better get the cheap ticket from travel agent than directly at the airport. To reach Gili Terawangan see my- thing to do tip- at my WestNusa Tenggara page or transportation tip at my Lombok Page, there are many villa or hotel at Gili Terawangan, you can do one day trip or extent your stay to an excursion at Mataram and three GILI Islands. Have a nice trip
