Hotel Dahlia: Home away from home
My partner and I travelled to Bukittinggi to understand the culture of the Monangkabau people and enjoy the surrounding attractions around the area such as the lakes, volcano, and multiple waterfalls at Harau Valley. We based ourself in Bukittinggi. We had a look at multiple hotels in Bukitting as we will be staying for at least 2 weeks. We decided to stay at Hotel Dahlia because it is the CLEANEST AND MOST COMFORTABLE HOTEL BY FAR!!! We ended up staying there for an extra 2 weeks. The owner is friendly and can speak English and able to give us local knowledge of the area. We are very grateful for her knowledge. The pace is truly feels like a HOME AWAY FROM HOME. We would highly recommend the stay at HOTEL DAHLIA (right in the middle of the town) and close to all attractions.

Hotel Imran: homestay
This hotel is quite clean, not too crowded and homy. It only has 6 rooms. Prety big also. 4-6 persons can stay in the one room.
Include brakfast, and some standard toiletries. But the price will rock you, guys..!!
Unique Quality: It has good location. Only 5 minutes by walking to Jam Gadang. I can walk also to Ngarai Sianok

Bukit Tinggi is a small town with a cool climate, so not to worry if you have a room without air condition
Unique Quality: Hotel Nikita located at the main street of Bukit Tinggi, the Room Rate per night are variable: Standard is Rp. 242, 500, superior is Rp. 326, 700,- and Deluxe is Rp. 435,000,- .
The first two without air condition, the last one is a room with air conditioned

ASIA HOTEL: Hotel Asia
Spacious clean environment. Big enough rooms with hot shower and tv, friendly staff. Only gripe is that the rooms have ventilators which allow noise from corridors etc. So anyone speaking outside your room, you will feel that the person is in your room :)

Unique Quality: very near to fort de kock. Food eataries nearby. Medical and generel ameneties shops are nearby and so are the tour offices and bike rental stores.

sari bundo hotel: hotel near fort de kock
the name sari bundo is usually used for restaurant.
we found this hotel just across fort de kock. we interested because it looks fresh and new.
it's not a dissapoinment: the room is ok, and the staff is friendly and eager to give information for everything. the price for the room starts from rp 350.000

Hotel Kharisma: Hotel Kharisma
A travelling buddy to Bukittinggi in Sep 06 likes this hotel very much. Though at the time, we stayed at Merdeka Homestay. I guess our friend, Pak Aziz, likes the facilities, food, & location of this hotel.

Hotel Khartini and Hotel Asia: Clean!
Hotel Khartini is maintained very clean and has a homely feeling. They also have a water dispenser so it can save you some money on drinks.
I would recommend this guesthouse than Orchid Hotel which is just across the road. Though popular with most travellors, the staff working in the hotel during the time when i visited didn't give me a very sincere feeling.
Hotel Asia is a big modern hotel which looks expensive but is very affordable. It costs just slightly more than Hotel Khartini and Hotel Orchid. It is equally well-maintained.
All 3 hotels are within walking distance from one another.
