dusty and no windows

Hotelrooms with airco, and some with warm water. None of the rooms has windows, so only 4 walls and a door.
When I first looked in one room, the first thing I noticed was a dusty smell. The rooms have carpet on the floor, it might be very old. It is also possible the airco is not clean. There is no fan.

When I said I had to think about it, they immediately offered me a discount. When I called the next day that I would take the rooms, they said they were allready gone. But a few hours later they called me back to offer the rooms again, for every price we wanted. By that time, we allready booked another hotel.

Unique Quality: no windows in your room

Budget

Pleasanf staff, decent rooms just renovated. Price from 150,000 /room with breakfast.

Unique Quality: 2 mins walk to the beach. The beach is not the prime attraction here but the food stalls selling prawn fritters and sate.

  • Opinion of Price: least expensive

little warm place to stay...

The room is clean with air-con and warm water supplied. The owner of the place, Mr. Tjandra Liu, is a Chinese-Indonesian, he decorates his hotel in Chinese style, and there is a little garden in it though it's pretty small in size. Mr. Tjandra can speak English so no need to worry about the communication. If you want to call a cab, money exchange, or seek for information, ask him and things will be fine. Price per night for a standard room is Rph125,000.

Unique Quality: Hm, I had said Mr. Tjandra himself is a very unique quality. He was bron in a Chinese family. He has seen the situation of minority in the country. During 1998 economy crisis in Indonesia, a lot of Chinese-Indonesian had really hard time. Under the autocractic president Suharto, all Chinese has to change their surname to a local one; all Chinese school had to close; all Chinese firm must be eliminated. Yah, it was really uneasy for these people. Want to know more, visit him lah!!
