More about Bladok Losmen

Great Gh Yogyakarta

by squidchip about Bladok Loseman

Great place only about 2 blocks from the train station. Clean safe rooms on a vendor active street. Excellent resturant and good prices. We paid 65,000rp for double room with shower, fan, great balcony, and western toilet. Toilet paper and soap provided as well as towels. I highly reccomend this place. The staff was also very helpful and friendly. They have a pool too.

Bladok hotel in Yogyakarta, which is also listed as accommodation in the lonely planet guide!
The people here are okay, there is nothing spectacular to say other than this was the best toast.. I wish I'd tried the other menu items. Toast! The whole time in Indonesia my stomach disagreed with the food (Gado gado etc..). So I spent the whole time looking for the best restaraunts an the toast they served! This was no. 1!

Bladok Losmen or Losmen Satia Kawan

by amz155

I'm trying to decide between the two. Bladok has a pool but I can't book via internet. Satia Kawan, AFIK, doesn't have a pool but I could make an internet reservation. Though I've heard that they sometimes don't honour reservations if they are full. We are looking for a double room, fan, hot water, with breakfast, WiFi would be nice, as would a pool (though pool not necessary).

OR are there any others that would be similar and under $30USD/night?

I am currently in Yogja; tried to get a room in Satia Kawan and it was booked solid every day for the 3 days I have been staying. Looks very pretty.
RIGHT next door there is the Hotel 100, fits your budget; very clean and quite nice as well. No TV; great location.

Yogya accomodation

by boocik04

Hello everyone,

I need help with Yogya's accomodation. I'll be arriving Yogya on the 26th July (morning) by train. Where is the best place to stay? I've searched the internet for hotels but there are many confusing rates and reviews. I just need a clean room and clean adjoining toilet with basic facilities such as TV, air-conditioned room and a kettle. My budget is around IDR 200,000.

Thank you for your replies.

Thanks for your message on the board.
Anyway I suggest staying near the malioboro road. It's the most happening spot in town. No need to worry about getting a cab or taxi to see the sights that in the city.

I am going to go to Bali in June and planned to spend some time in Jogyakarta, too.
Is there anyone can tell me where is worth to see both in Bali and Jogyakarta. And a reliable travel agency for the tour to JOG.
Thanks a lot !

Depends what you like to do. Good beaches around Bali. Mountains to climb. Definitely go to Ubud on Bali. Try to see a Gamelan performance while there.
There are direct buses from Denpasar on Bali all the way to yogyakarta on Java. Long ride but really cheap and dinner is included.
You may want to split it up by stopping at Gunung Bromo in East Java. Good volcano to climb.
You can catch the bus to Yogya the next day.
In Yogya definitely see Borabudur and Prambanan ruins. Good night market sets up on Jalan Marlboro in Yogya. I stayed at Bladok Loseman. Good rates, pool and great people.
Have Fun

In Jogja definetely see/go to these places:

- Malioboro: a street lined with vendors selling everything from food, handicrafts, clothes and the like. Remember to bargain though.
- Keraton: this is the Jogja King's palace. Very grand with elegant Javanese architecture.
- Water Castle: not far from the Palace, and actually part of the Palace itself. Very beautfiul collection of ruins, pools, arches, and underground passages.
- Borobudur: The famous Buddhist Temple, one of the greatest monuments in the world.
- Prambanan: The biggest Hindu Temple in Indonesia, much more beautiful than Borubudur IMHO. Also if the time is right, you can also catch Ramayana Ballet Show here.
- Merapi: The most active volcano in Indonesia can be seen from the cool Kaliurang resort.
- Handicraft centers: they sell everything from silver works, leather goods, and batiks. But be careful some are tourist traps.

All in all, JOG is a very interesting cultural city with a lot to offer and really friendly people to boot!

Thank you for all your advice, they are useful. I will try to enjoy the sunshine, beautiful beaches and the Bali`s culture.

Latte said it all. Most of Yogya you can do on your own. Take the becaks around to the Sultan's Palace, Tumansari, The Bird Market, etc. It is very easy to get around.
Borobudur & Prambanan can be arranged through travel agents around Marlioboro St. My friend & I paid US$6 each for roundtrip transportation to those two temples, with a side temple thrown in. It did not include the temple admission fees or for the guide at the temple. We signed up the day before the temple tour. If you want to go to Mt. Bromo, you can sign up the day before as well.
