Simple, Clean, Friendly

Duta owns three different properties around Jogja so be careful when describing it to your taxi driver. I stayed in their midrange option "Duta Garden Hotel" (They also own Duta Guest House and Delta Inn). I arrived late at night unsure if it was the correct hotel. The driver seemed to know. I was greeted by hotel security officer patrolling the simple entrance. He escorted me to the manager on duty who warmly welcomed me and presented me with a nice double room (only one they had left). The bed was comfortable though the electrical set up could be improved (not limited to this hotel, it's common across Indonesia to have shoddy wiring). Only a few of my outlets worked and I was afraid to plug my stuff in :p. Otherwise, I found the house rules on the door quite amusing hahaha.

Unique Quality: After a night's rest after traveling from Tokyo via Jakarta, I scampered out into the garden. The grounds are very well kept and fall right in line with that South East Asian feel. Wood carvings, stone statues, bird feeders, the works! Very beautiful water features as well.

Oasis in Yogyakarta

We had a wonderful stay at Duta Gardens in Yogyakarta. The room was large and sparse. It was very clean. The staff was the best thing about Duta Gardens. They were helpful, attentive, friendly, and seemed to anticipate our every need. When we came if from a day of sight-seeing, they were right there with tea and a snack. They helped us with our luggage and gave great suggestions for transportation. The service was terrific!! The pool was immaculate and the breakfast lovely. You can stay in Yogyakarta for less money but you can't find a better place to stay!!

Unique Quality: Our room had a lovely coy pond in front of it, a large covered patio, and lush garden views from all windows. You can stay at places for about $8US a night but you will share a bathroom and it will just be a place to sleep. If you can afford a little more, Duta Gardens is so much better. If you want totally western standards, you will pay much more.

DUTA GARDEN HOTEL: AN OASIS

The hotel offers the basics - a pool, warm services and breakfast. Hidden among the maze of side streets in Yogyakarta, it is nonetheless worth the effort in locating and staying there.

Unique Quality: In the middle of a crowded and chaotic city, here lies this little jewel of a boutique hotel of about 40 rooms, surrounded by a thick foliage of palms and trees and serenaded with the melody of flowing water through connecting riverlets and waterfalls. The hotel has taken great pain to create a successful welcoming atmosphere of an oasis. Very serene.
