Classic Javanese Hospitality
While we were in Joja we stayed at a lovely guesthouse in the center of town. Not far from the palace and other sights. The grounds are lovely with gardens and ponds scattered everywhere. It probably isn't the cheapest place to stay but it is worth it. I believe meals are included depending on your room.
Unique Quality: The rooms are great, with antique beds and desks and chairs. In the evening, tea and Javanese pastries are brought up to your room and it's nice to eat them on the balcony. Please remember that Yogyakarta is still a sultanate, so please remember your manners.

Cozy and affordable
I paid Rp75,000 net (about USD 8) for a single room with fan and attached bath. The tariff includes daily breakfast and evening snacks and tea. The staffs are friendly and efficient. Just as described by their motto 'the only guest house that gives you a real Javanese hospitality'.
Unique Quality: There is a swimming pool and a lovely garden. Rooms with fan with garden view is Rp 175,000 (single), Rp 200,000 (double). The price is slightly higher for air-con room with garden view, ie. Rp 200,000 (single), Rp 225,000 (double).
Other facilities include free safety deposit box, tour services, international phone call and fax, taxi services, laundry, ticketing services etc.
