Saudi Arabia@expo2005

by cheesecake17

Official name
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The theme of this pavillion was "wisdom, harmony and hope,"

Saudi Arabia hopes visitors will feel the wisdom of Islamic culture about the natural environment and deepen understanding about Islam..

(pic#2)The first display is an "imaginary urban environment" composed of buildings from various areas in Saudi Arabia, lifestyle culture and wisdom evident in the lifestyle of the people in desert....

OILLLLLLL!!

(pic#3)The next display introduces the history of creation of Saudi Arabia and industrial development based on petrochemicals.

This was most interesting...on display where different kind of petrol ....all i know is leaded and unleaded ......I did not realize how different they were..:)...and how many other kind where there.

And the third display showcases the efforts and achievements of various Saudi Arabians working around the world in diverse fields.

Nagoya Port - "A Zone For Fun By The Sea "

by PartyRambo

"Horatio Hornblower - eat your heart out!"

Here's a (somewhat skewed) photo of the whole of the port area - a great place to bring the kids for the day, or to just hang out on your own.
The English website is at http://www.nagoyaaqua.or.jp/english/index.html

"The Age of Aquarium?"

The aquarium in Nagoya is quite a sight - architecturally at the very least - it's the dome on the right.

The Port Museum & some offices sit in the base of this odd building, and a viewing area graces the wing bridge above.
I love it!!

The Port Museum entrance is built to resemble a hull structure - very cool!

"Antarctic Explorer Fuji"

The Fuji is Japan's first icebreaker to get to the Antarctic, casting off in 1965 for a total of 18 explorations.

"Whoops!"

Aboard the Fuji bridge.

"Deep Blue Sea?"

While the picture is pretty bad, it shows the viewing tank wall behind me - quite a lot of marine life activity goes on, seemingly oblivious to the flashbulbs of visiting photographers!

This tracked vehicle sits beside the Fuji Explorer. You can climb inside the rear bay, although there's nothing much to see, and the front cabin is glassed off. Great for the kids, though
