"A Noble Heritage"
The birthplace of the Shogun, immortalized in James Clavell's book and movie. This city is rich in heritage and has a people very proud of it.
This statue is on the grounds of the Okazaki park which also includes the Okazaki castle and the Museum of Mikawa Feudal Warriors. It is of Heihachiro Tadakatsu Honda. The sculptor was able to capture a certain grand stoic presence coupled with an infinite weariness.
"Oto River"
The Oto river runs thru Okazaki then joins up with the Yahagi River just downstream from this location. This is one of the largest river fountains in Japan, and every year in August they have a big fireworks display on the banks of it.
