" Parks and Museums of Okazaki "
Okazaki is one of the biggest city in Mikawa area of Aichi Prefecture(population: 363,807 in 2005). It is best known by Okazaki Castle with reconstructured keep. To people living near Nagoya, Okazaki is the town that has a lot of nice parks including Okazaki Park with magnificent keep of Okazaki castle. Major Okazaki parks have the name from cardinal directions, Higshi(East), Minami(South) and Kita(North). Although I have yet to find Nishi(west) park in Okazaki. Okazaki also has a number of nice museums. The most popular of which is Okazaki Mindscape Museum in Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park. Latest exhibition of Okazaki Mindscape Museum "Swingin' In London 50s and 60s" is on pop music of 50s and 60s including Beatles which is held from January 28th until March 21st.
I hope I can visit this exhibition and enjoy the park. Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park has the area of 189.3 ha nearly as large as Hamakita Forest Park(215ha) in Hamamatsu.
" Town of Miso "
Miso, or soy bean paste is one of the essential seasonings for Japanese. Particularly so in people living in and around Nagoya and Mikawa area. Okazaki is one of the major producing areas of miso. While general miso mixes fermented rice a great deal, miso produced in Okazaki, which is called Hacchomiso uses predominantly soy bean as material. Such red-colored miso is favored and used in various types of cuisines in Nagoya.
" Tokaido #37 Fujikawa and #38 Okazaki "
In Okazaki there are two Tokaido lodging stations thirty seventh stop FUJIKAWA and thirty-eighth Okazaki. Particularly Fujikawa area is well-preserved and popular for Tokaido walkers.
