Perfect Stay at the Sands
My best friend and I just returned from the Kamaole Sands on Maui May 3, 2004. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place. I booked through Expedia and received a condo through Maui Condo Rentals, that was clean, well furnished, and came with all the amenities that a hotel lacks e.g. beach chairs, mats, umbrellas etc. The room also had a washer/dryer unit which came in handy for all the towels and bathing suits we used everyday. I purchased a garden view but was upgraded to an ocean view in Bldg 10 with great views of the sunset at kamole beach. The best beaches are sooo close to this condo including Makena (Big Beach), and Wailea is right next door. I can't say enough about how comfortable and at home we felt at the Kamaole sands. I saw many other rooms while staying on the island including some higher end condos and ours was much nicer. If you are a family on a budget or a couple of girls looking for great safe place to stay - THIS IS IT!! Shopping near by including Longs Center and great breakfast at the Kihei Cafe. Stay here and tour the island by car knowing that you will come home to comfortable place to rest and sleep.
A wonderful paradise!
We loved our 1-1/2 weeks at the Kamaole Sands Condo Resort.
Before arriving to Maui. I took the liberty of reading a few of the reviews written about the Kamaole Sands on this web site and we were a bit worried about what this condo resort would be like.
Well.....It was paradise! The Kamaole sands is a great condo resort. The Grounds are gorgeously green and landscaped. There's a lot of exotic flowers, tropical shrubs, mini waterfalls. The pool area is very nice with bathrooms, showers, 2 hot tubs, and a children's pool, adult pool.
We stayed in Building 5 over looking the pool. Our unit was great. It was modern, spotless. It even had a stackable washer and dryer. The two bathrooms per suite are an added bonus too.
No......we did not have any bugs in our condo! Not one single bug!
There are great beaches across the street and some more further south heading towards Wailea and Makena.
There are lot's of restaurants near by too. The ones we enjoyed most were KKO(5 min walk), Bada Bing Italian food, Lu lu's,. We decided to try the Luau at the Renaissance Hotel in Wailea. It was awesome.
In all, the Kamole Sands was beyond our expectations. So please...if you have any worries about staying here... put them behind you.
You will not regret your vacation at the Kamaole Sands!
Week in Heaven
The Kamaole Sands was perfect. The room was spotless, it was like someone left there home and left everything in there for us to enjoy! Down to the DVD and Surround sound through out the condo. We were provided every item that a person would have in there home, down to the ice chest to take to the ocean. We never heard any noice from anybody around us. The maids came by everyday and made the beds with fresh sheets and fresh towels. And it was wonderful having an agent there to book our activities so we didn't have to waste much time. It added to our perfect vacation to have the perfect condo!!!! Loved it!
You get what you ask for
We visited Maui during spring break and had a weeks reservations at Kamaole Sands. We had read many comments from this sight and were a bit concerned what to expect. All the comments are valid. The owner of each individual condo will dictate how they chose to offer you accomdations. Our reserved unit was a total disaster to be nice about it. It was in total disarry, not clean and not maintained. All the discomforts of home were here including broken dishes and no utensils to speak of. There was even a theatening sign in the linen closet that the extra sheets were the property of the owner and not to be touched. We returned to the desk and requested another room. The staff was more than accommodating and when we viewed our next choice, it was palacial. Granite counters, new dishes, more than enough silver ware, glasses, cups, tiled lanai, great patio furniture and a great garden view. Can you beleive there was even laundry detegent! There was even a guest book for you to leave your comments. Of course everyone loved this unit. The individual owner is what counts.
We loved Maui and the family had a great time. The beaches are gorgeous. We really loved the West side with Kehei and Wailea beaches much more than the busy Northern resort area.
BIGGEST COMPLAINT. We booked a lot of activities with Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays. A huge mistake. Totally unreliable. Took our money for top bookings only to find out we ended up with the cheapest on arrival. Even our booking (which was prepaid at their request) for a luau at the Royal Lahaina was denied on arrival. The management at the Royal Lahaina along with the "Pleasant Hawaiian" employees were hostile, uncaring and rude. The employees are obviously 9 to 5 employees and have no concept that the entire island runs and subsists on tourism and hospitality. You can book your own activity reservations at the condo, with your hotel or with any local agents and get much better treatment and better prices.
MAUI IS A GREAT HAWAIIAN VACATION. SO MANY THINGS TO DO AND NOT ENOUGH TIME.
PS. Do ask for maid service. We did and we had fresh towels and cleaning daily. They were great.
Enjoyed the stay very much
We just returned from Kihei and had a wonderful time. Kameole Beach, across the street from our unit, was a wonderful place to snorkel and find all the fish (including stingray's) that you could see anywhere else. Upon arrival we were upgraded to an ocean view, much to our delight. While air conditioning is supplied, only the main room of the unit is cool, most all other spaces were warm even with the fans running. We were pleased overall with everything and would recommend it to anyone wanting a nice quiet place to stay with a good location.
No Towels,No Sheets, No help!
We stayed at the Kamole Sands 7/04 and were put in a unit that was in escrow, not knowing this. There was no sheets, or towels. We went to the front desk and asked for towels. Not looking under the bedspreads we did not realize that there were no sheets. About 11:00p.m. we got ready for bed and found this out. Returning to the front desk we asked the desk clerk, Ramone for sheets. He said housekeeping went home we were out of luck. We ended sleeping on pillows covered with T-shirts and no sheets. The next day we went to housekeeping and obtained sheets. We thought our problem was solved. After coming back from the beach, we were greeted by a real estate agent that acted like we were squatters. The unit had closed escrow that morning and we had to get out. They moved us to another unit, and the front desk paid for our lunch if we moved out right then. We only spent three days at the Kamole Sands, thank god that we just added an couple of extra days and this was not the place we stayed for the next week. The units are all very HOT. The staff is lazy. The air does not work well, just very noisy. When we threw our leis in the water we did not make the wish to come back here.
