Kashiwa Dai ichi hotel: Handy and reasonable
A practical hotel at a good rate for 2 senior travelers. We did Japanese style futons which were clean and comfortable as was the whole place (not luxurious but homey). 7 minute walk from Kashiwa Station, 30 min to Ueno Park (and thence 1 hr to Narita), 40 min to Ginza. Hotel has a nice sushi bar but plenty of economical cafe's and better within 5 min walk. Several close dept. stores and a 100 yen store for souvenirs. Safe walking in evening with lots of street activity til 10pm or so.
Unique Quality: Sushi restaurant.

Crest Hotel: Best Hotel in Kashiwa
Stayed here numerous times. Rooms comfortable, service always very good. Restaurant is OK but there is a wide variety of other choice on the streets around the hotel. Not too expensive and always clean.
Rooms can get a little warm in springtime. Try to get a room on the other side to the station, else with the window open the trains wake you up around 5.30am. Look for low series of room numbers xx01-xx12.
Unique Quality: Great location very near to Kashiwa station
