To be avoided
by salisbury3933 about Toyoko Inn
In the past I recommended Toyoko Inn, but I will no longer do so given their discriminatory treatment of non-Japanese and disabled customers.

This gives an outline as to what this company is about. Do not support racism or discrimination against the disabled by spending your money there.
cheap & good Hotel
by hanbert about Toyoko-inn
Except for the first few days staying in 5 stars Okura Hotel paid by my company, I stayed Mostly in Toyoko-inn chain of hotel thru' out Tokyo and Hakkaido. it is reasonably priced and provides very good service. In Hokkaido, it normally locates very near to the JR station.
Only short-coming may be the late check-in time of 4pm & checkout of 10am 1. Provide breakfast, for the one I stayed in Hakodate, it even provides dinner
2. Just book online, don't even ask for credit card info to ensure reservation
3. All rooms come with basic facilities, toilet, bath, writing desk, etc. + free Internet connection with the cable provided
4. Stay in 4 diff. locations, get very helpful service from staff except the one near to Shinjuku

Hotels in Japan
by FOURPIRSQ about Toyoko Inn
These hotels are made for the backpack traveler. Toiletries are included, that means, toothbrush, toothpaste, q-tips, name it. Washer/Dryers available. In room tv, computer and internet in the lobby. Cheap phone calls worldwide. Breakfast included rages from local to continental. They have locations all over Japan and they accept credit cards. The rooms are comfortable. I thought they were just fine, some people thought that they were small. The bathroom has a wonderful spa tub, and the water is hot! Perfect after a day of walking! The hotels are always close to the subways and convenience stores.

Toyoko in Shinagawa (Tokyo) just next to Shinagawa Prince Hotel. A very convenient location. Opposite the hotel is the Shinagawa Station where you can get to practically anyway in Japan.

We stayed in one in Tokyo which was near a subway and major tourist sites. Visit my page (only one tip on the hotel)

Toyoko Inns are fine - cheap and well located. My only gripe would be the size of the rooms, especially the bathrooms. However this is not limited to Toyoko Inns - unless you pay top dollar in Japan, your hotel room will prevent you from swinging cats.

We have just come back from Japan and had the opportunities to stay in Kyoto,Osaka and Hiroshima Toyoko inns. They are as other members described small but clean and fairly cheap. If anyone is after standard accomodation( expect nothing like western standard in size)we recommend Toyoko inns any time.
