Getting to the Narita Hilton from Tokyo - should we go to Narita town or Narita airport?

by ange74

Hi! We are going to have our first ever trip to Japan this July - just 6 days on the way between NZ and the UK.

We will be spending our last night in Japan at the Narita Hilton to make our morning international flight easier.

We will be coming up from Kyoto and I was wondering whether we would be better to go to Narita airport on the Narita express, or to go to Narita town? We will have a JR pass. The Hilton apparently have a free shuttle both from the airport and from Narita town which goes to the train station there - but I am not sure whether it goes as frequently from Narita town as it might do from the airport.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!!

Ange

Since you are staying at the Hilton, take their free shuttle. If the time is important, ask them to verify what time to be in the lobby to catch your flight. Usual airport hotels know the drill and want to please the customer for their return stay.

Thanks! Yes, they have free shuttles both ways, and we will definitely check with them regarding the timing to make sure we don't miss our flight.

My question was more about getting TO the Hilton from Tokyo - whether we should go to Narita town or Narita airport to get to the Hilton with their shuttle. They have shuttles from both places - but I am not sure about the frequency...

oH oh, well there are trains that go to the airport, like the airport express for about 13 dollars that runs every 30 mins., but since you have the JR pass, you can use it to Narita Station, It is the JR Sobu line. The trains get limited after 1830, so catch as early as posssible in case you get lost. It takes about a hour from Tokyo. I just do not know why they put a airport so far away from the city. Taxi are to expensive and buses take forever because of traffic.

The airport is going to be more frequent than from Narita Town as of course there are more people arriving at the airport looking for transportation. Pickup at the airport is from Terminal one at pick up station 16 and from terminal 2 at pick up station 26. When I stayed at one of the airport hotels a few months ago, airport service was frequent and Narita Town was served every two hours. If you decide to go from Narita Town the pick up spot for Hotel shuttles is next to the Comfort Inn just outside the station and to the left of it.

Travel Tips for Narita

The Airport Limousine Bus

by cheesecake17

The Airport Limousine Bus, is probably the most convenient way to get to the city centre.

You'll find the ticket desk right in front of you as you enter arrivals, and the bus stops are then located immediately outside each terminal building.

Buses leave for Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station, Disneyland and major hotels.

They depart every 15 minutes.

A ONE WAY ticket costs 3000 yen, and depending on traffic, expected journey time is about 1 1/2 hour...

Naritasan Park, laid out behind Naritasan Shinshoji Temple.

The park is a Japanese garden beautifully displayed the natural colors of each season, an ideal backdrop of seasonal flowers, cherry blossom, and ponds for taking photographs of friends and loved ones.

Narita - Stopover

by stevemt

"Ideal stopover destination"

Narita is a common stopover destination for travelers flying from New Zealand and Australia, and then on to sundry other destinations.

It is a facinating place to visit and get a feel of old Japan. There are many old wooden buildings that are there to see and be photographed, many on the way the the famous shrine.

Narita-shi

I was only in Japan for about 8 hours and before the trip, I researched the net and found a great site (http://www.mgnewman.com/narita/index.html) for my Narita layover!

Yeah, layovers suck but, I got the chance to visit a country that I've always wanted to see!

Thanks again Mike!
