The Imabari Kokusai Hotel is celebrating its 10th Anniversay this year (2006) and deserves the accolade as the best hotel in Shikoku (Ehime Prefecture). Built like a tall French chateau by the Shoei (Imabari Shipbuilding) Group, it dominates Imabari ansd is the focal point for the area for business events, weddings and family gatherings. Not cheap - Yen18,000 a night at least - it has a beautiful inside and outside onsen (hot spring) on the third floor and superb tatami rooms in an annexe for weddings and special occasions. Several excellent restaurants -sushi, teppan-yaki, Chinese - and a two dramatic bars, one on the top (23rd floor) and one in the basement looking at a lighted waterfall - complete the facilities.
