Tenjin Center Hotel Honkan
When I arrived at Fukuoka, I had no hotel room reserved, but I knew I wanted to stay in the Tenjin Center area with its good nightlife. I stopped in a hotel here (the Nishitetsu Grand Hotel) and their prices were way more than I could afford. When I asked the friendly guy at the desk if there was anyplace nearby that was cheaper, he pointed me to the Tenjin Center Inn, just across the street.
Tenjin Center Hotel is in the center of the Tenjin area. For 7,140 Yen (US$66) I get a very small room with a single bed. The hotel is actually in the upper floors of a maybe 10-story building, so when you see the sign from the street, you actually go right into the elevator and take it to the lobby way upstairs. From there you check in and grab your room, which is on a different floor. This was a tiny little hotel with barely enough space in the room for a bed, TV, and little-bitty bathroom.
