Hiroshima is the first city in the world to be hit by a nuclear bomb on August 6, 1945 causing an estimated 140,000 people losing their lives.

Purpose of Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation
"Based on Hiroshima's A-bomb experience, and collaborating with peace research institutions and related organizations in Japan and abroad, this Foundation aims to convey that experience and to contribute to the dissemination of peace thought and international understanding and cooperation, and thereby to contribute to the creation of world peace and the betterment of human welfare, from a global perspective."

Its unique in the fact that it seats more than 10 people! It is big for a Japanese restaurant and has pool tables (which are incredibly scarce in Hiroshima) and an area for live music which admittedly I have only seen once since I've been going there but you may get lucky. If you are feeling starved of Western food by the time you get to Hiroshima and missing a real bar atmosphere then this is a little slice of home even for us non-Americans. All the food is good- especially the fajita's, baked potatoes, pizza etc..... Its American food as it's part owned by an American called Kevin.
Peace Flame

The Hiroshima peace flame is another tribute to the victims of the A-Bomb and is located within the Memorial park and set within two stone arms in the middle of the Peace Pond. Set in line with the museum, Cenotaph and A-Bomb Dome, the flame was first lit in 1964 and will not be extinguished until all the nuclear weapons in the world are destroyed and the planet is free from nuclear threat.
Miyajima.

You will hear about Miyajima anyway as it's the obvious choice after the peace park to visit. It's not a tourist trap and no matter how many other people have been- GO! I suggest you give yourself a long day to look around or you wont want to leave, but no matter what you see, it is the atmosphere which is Miyajima's most unique quality. There are many rules pertaining to this sacred island which help keep its holy atmosphere. I made a travelogue about Miyajima as there is so much to know and so much to ask about what you see there that you may not get the chance to. Most important is don't forget your camera! for photos and the rest see must see miyajima
Hiroshima , the city of Peace

Hiroshima, a city well known in the world for a sadpoint in history. Hiroshima was the first city to be bombed by a A-bomb, on August the 6th 1945. Thousands were killed at the moment the bomb exploded. The death toll rose to 180.000 in the years after. From that moment the city of Hiroshima is fighting for peace in the world. Let us hope they are succesfull in the near future.
