Miyajima Coral Hotel: Just by the ferry terminal
Miyajima Coral Hotel is only 20 meters away from the ferry terminal (going to Miyajima). It has western and Japanese or Japanese/western mixed rooms. It has a seaside room with a magnificent view of the sea. The room is not small like other Japanese hotels. It has two restaurants and both has delicious dishes.
Big sea-view rooms. Clean and good service.

Watanabe Inn: WOW! Watanabe Inn in Miyajima
Watanabe Inn is absolutely fantastic!!! If you're going to Miyajima, you must stay overnight; it's gorgeous at night after the crowds clear out and there couldn't be a better host than the folks at Watanabe Inn!! They made our stay one of the best nights of our lives!
Fantastic hospitality!! Great location at the top of the hill! Great meal! Cozy, clean room!

Iwaso Ryokan: Playground of the 'wet' and famous!
We wanted to stay here for the historic value (it was apparently the first Ryokan built on Miyajima), and had played host to Japanese Royalty, but we neglected to request rooms in the old section so we ended up in the new section. It was very nice, but lacking in the atmosphere we were looking for. That said, the gardens were absolutely beautiful, and the food was, I think, some of the nicest we were served in Japan (breakfast and dinner included in price). One of the owners, a very gracious old lady, was chatting to us in the garden. When she found out that we were from Australia, she became very excited and scurried inside only to return a moment later with the guest register. She pointed out Ian Thorpe's name to us ( apparently our Aussie swimmer had also stayed here), and pronounced him a "good boy"! So Ian...good on you for presenting Aussies in such a good light!

Sorry, I can't remember now....: Ryokan in Miyajima
This ryokan is the first you see when you arrive from the ferry terminal. THe price is not expensive and they can include some meals but we didn't want any. Room are with futon and with occidental bath.
Very close to the Ferry Terminal and to the Itsukushima Shrine

Arimoto: Ryokan? Hotel?
Arimoto is, I guess, a tourist hotel. Actually, though, it seems more like a ryokan--a traditional inn--in some ways. They feature an onsen (hot springs) on the lower level, traditional Japanese food including local Hiroshima delicacies, and a large tatami-room with futon rather than beds. Whether it's an inn or a hotel, it is very nice.
At about $120 per person (not per room), it's more expensive than many accomodations in Hiroshima city (about a 30 minute trip by ferry and train). It's not any more expensive than most places on the island, though. Plus, it includes two meals.
The ippaku-nishoku (one night, two meals) option includes a spacious room with a view of Itsukushima Jinja, a natural hotspring bath, a large Japanese-style meal in your room, and your choice of Japanese or western-style breakfast in the hotel restaurant in the morning. The onsen is quite nice; perhaps not a destination in itself, but just peek out the window at Itsukushima shrine and the five-story pavilion if you're looking for attractions.

Miyajima Coral Hotel: Great View of Miyajima
Hotel is located on the mainland (about 30 minutes by train from Hiroshima) with fantastic view of Miyajima.
The room had seen better days but the view more than made up for that. Conveniently situated right next to the ferry terminal.

Ryosou Kawaguchi: Ryokan on the Island
Miyajima is very close to Hiroshima. But if you want to enjoy the morning here, staying on the island is a good idea.
We picked Kawaguchi because we liked the menu. And the speical Oyster Dinner was so fabulous and the host and hostess have put so much thoughts into their food that I just couldn't express my gratitude enough.
The whole place is really nicely decorated. In addition, there is a common room on top floor where there is massage chair and view to the Pagoda.
Mind you that this place may often be fully booked. Reservation is highly recommended.

Momiji-so: Miyajima Island's Best Ryokan
The people at Momijiso were wonderful to us. They picked us up near the port and took us to the ryokan, fed us and we slept like babies! Before we turned in, one of the guys was going down to the shrine and asked us if we wanted to go, so we piled in the van and got to see Itsukushima Shrine all lit up - beautiful! Our rooms had to have been the best in the place. We had the two upstairs rooms and the view in the morning was so beautiful! When we woke up Sunday morning, the brilliance of the maple leaves left us breathless. We took a lovely walk about 6:00 AM before all the crowds got there. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
Momiji-so Ryokan is right in the middle of the Momijidani National Park surrounded by beautiful maple trees and hundreds of tame deer.
