OOKAWA RYOKAN: CLOSE TO THE STATION
This is the 2nd ryokan I`ve stayed at in Kinosaki. I enjoyed my stay at Matsuya Ryokan more than this one, but for those who want to stay closer to JR Kinosaki Station, this is the one to stay at. (Matsuya`s not so much farther though).
This ryokan too included two meals (dinner & breakfast), but the meals were served in a different room than in the room where you sleep. I found the meal room to be large (good thing) but cold (bad thing). I don`t like eating in the cold. This was the only negative part of my stay. The room had an air conditioner that spewed out hot air but the room was too large to thoroughly heat.
The meals were good though-LOTS of crab!!
The rooms were clean & comfortable. I slept on a futon as would be expected when one stays at a ryokan, & was given a yukata set to wear in & outdoors.

MATSUYA RYOKAN: A ROOM WITH A VIEW
This ryokan had excellent service & great food! Room rates include breakfast & dinner, FULL COURSE! When in Kinosaki you should eat kani (crab). It`s famous here. Your dinner will include kani on the menu. When your meal arrives you will feel as if you are at a feast! The dishes are small but plentiful.
Your room will look out onto the main thoroughfare: pedestrians wearing yukatas & wooden getas, the river running through town, flora & fauna...
Unique Quality: There was an onsen bath located in the ryokan where we bathed & soaked before dinner. Small but very relaxing before we hit the main onsens in town after we ate. Yukatas & getas are provided for you. Free tickets are available for guests to visit the main onsens.
