"Day trip to Taisanji-Temple"
I visit Taisanji-Temple yesterday. I took JR from Sumiyoshi station to Shin Nagata station, which is conveniently connected with subway station Shin Nagata. I got off the subway at Igawadani station on Seishin Line. There is a bus to reach temple but it is not often. I took taxi with some friends.
This Temple is about 1300 years old. It used to have large precinct and many sub-temples. You can imagine the old great days walking along the long stone-paved approach.
You can also see the very old style of Japanese house like this along the way.
There is an beautiful three-story pagoda.
The main hall of this temple designated a national treasure.
On January 7, every year "Tsuina-shiki" is performed in this main hall. It might be interesting for foreigners. In this ritual, the ogres perform dances in darkness having bamboo touch with their hand.
