Has anyone stayed in a Kobe Hotel?
Just wondered if they are simiar to American hotels
and which you would consider the nicest.
Also, do they have casino's in Kobe or Japan at all.

Currently casino style gambling in Japan is illegal, however, there is a move afoot to make it available in certain areas; mainly the outer islands. That is not to say that Japan doesn't have gambling. It has pachinko, which has created as many gambling addicts as slots has in the US. Here is a tiny bit about pachinko for you:

yes i have stayed in kobe some 16 years ago in a hotel close to the railway station i think rose hotel . inexpansive but watch out the check in time is always 1600 hrs and check out time is 10 am always in japanese hotels. rooms in general in japan are small but always supplied with amenities like tea bags , house slippers, a kimono type of bathing coat nad the breakfast is not included.prices should be like in usa except in tokyo where everything is expansive

The exterior is dark brown wood. You wouldn`t even think a restaurant was in there except for the schoolroom chairs outside for guests to sit on while they wait for their table.
The restaurant is very "Japanese", meaning when you are entering & eating you FEEL like you are in Japan. Large groups can sit in private tatami matted rooms. Menu items are a la carte. Try the tofu dishes. Fried chicken. Eggplant. Yakitori.
the central jinja in the middle of the city, sannomiya :)) the streets around this area are buzzling with life both in the day and in the evening, u can find shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, night clubs, hotels...
...and in the middle of this modern, urban jungle is ikuta taisha (shinto shrine) in its timelessness with its prayers whispering in the air...u can truly experience the nostalgic beauty of the contrast here...
