There are beautiful temples and a famous garden in Kanazawa, but the most interesting thing about Kanazawa are to see the old Samurai-houses and the Geisha-houses. This is a Samurai-House. Some of them you can visit as they now are a museum.
Located within the Higashi Chaya district, you will be introduced to the art of gold leaf making at the museum. It's a tedious, laborious process and the human factor has not been replaced by industrial machines. The masters would still painstakingly and delicately move the thin gold leaves from one press to another for the final process.
After which, you could enjoy a cup of tea decorated with gold flakes whilst you browse through the collection of art pieces and souvenirs that contain gold leaf.
