by luckysamurai

Does anyone know about Kanazawa green tea with gold leaf?
I'd be very thankfull if anyone gave me an information on where to buy in Kanazawa as I'm planning to travel there or are there any webshops?
Thank you all.

well, there is rakuten.co.jp but youd need to know japanese to order from them (they dont have everything in english and not all explanations in english are quite understandable), plus shipping abroad if they do is enormous..for all other websites, even if you find them, they dont ship abroad and they are always in japanese.
if you have some japanese friend they could do it for you, and you just pay them through paypal for example.

rakuten is the best for all this, its like many smaller shops selling under this website.
unfortunatelly, my experience too was that it was impossible ordering something here to finland (i usually order kamome no tamago sweets). and when i found some hello kitties i could get from them (after they added foreign shipping for some products), the shipping costs were so huge, it was just ridicolous.

good luck. i dont know about kanazawa, but in tokyo we found several tea selling small shops, so i suspect you should find the same in the shopping area.

btw, if youre in tokyo as well, a good shop selling tea (all sorts of green tea) was at the ameyoko street, which is just off ueno park. you might also find it there.

Head east from the market to the Higashi Chayagai - the old tea district - still lined with wooden houses featuring the distinctive slatted windows through which geisha could be seen by prospective customers.

The district is well maintained and is a nice balance of preserved geisha houses open to the public, newly restored art galleries, tea and trinket shops and family houses where residents continue with normal modern life and carefully conceal their cars behind slatted wooden garage doors. The Sakuda Gold Leaf Company (Tel: 076 251 6777) has demonstrations of the gold leaf-making process and gold leaf products on sale.

If you are just looking for green tea with gold leaf, and you're not picky about it being from Kanazawa or somewhere else, Lupicia has many shops around Tokyo, and they have green tea with gold leaf for sale. I bought it a couple times as gifts.

Sorry, the site is only in Japanese.

I can only read hiragana and katakana and very small kanji:)))
Well,it does not really matter whether it's from Kanazawa or not.All I knew is that they produce gold leaf there therefore I thought it would be better to look there.
Thank you anyway:)

Travel Tips for Kanazawa

Yellow spring flowers

by Mr.Sparkle

Ok, this is kind of a strange tip, but here goes. If you’re in Kanazawa during early April, you should check out the fields of beautiful yellow flowers (not sure what they7re called) that are used to make cooking oil. The best place to head is CCZ (check out my CCZ tip). Next to the beach are a couple of huge fields of flowers which are perfect for photographing and frolicking. These flowers seem to be harvested rather quickly, so there is a small window of opportunity to see them.
