Hiraizumi and Ichinoseki
"Ichinoseki-The Entrance to the Hiraizumi"
Ichinoseki is the base for the popular Tohoku tourist site Hiraizumi, waiting to be approved as UNESCO world heritage. Hiraizumi-cho is a neighboring town of Ichinoseki.
"Hiraizumi the ancient city of Gold"
Hiraizumi is said to be the "golden city" in which Marco Polo mentions as Jipangu. Chusonji Temple may really fit the description though the gold foil has worn off a bit. And Motsuji Temple has the Heian Period( 794-1192) garden designed to show the pure-land paradise of Buddha according to Jodo sect Buddhism. It is also known as the place Yoshitsune Minamoto was put to death by his elder brother Yoritomo who founded Kamakura shogunate. Recent historical excavation revealed more fascinating facts about mysterious ancient city.
