Not only a nice hotel:

Palace Hotel Hakone is located in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Overlooking Lake Ashi, the resort features natural hot springs and views of Mount Fuji. The hotel is also surrounded by the volcanic crater walls of Hakone.
It offers nice, rather oldfashioned but comfortable rooms, three dining options and a karaoke bar. Hummingbird Café Restaurant specializes in "nature-inspired" dishes, Japanese cuisine is served at Sengoku. Asuka features French cuisine and panoramic views of the surrounding area.
The hotel's hot springs offer separate soaking options for men and women. Open-air or indoor hot spring baths are available. An outdoor pool overlooking the mountains is open seasonally.

Unique Quality: The hotel's hot springs-bath is a very special experience!
Having dinner at the crowded main-restaurant is disappointing, so a move to the (much more expensive) Japanese restaurant is yet worthwile, if one compares quality of food and service.
