Travel Tips for Yokohama
Zen Buddhist Temple: Layout of...
by Sharrie
Zen Buddhist Temple: Layout of this type of temple is based on Chinese Sung Dynasty temples, ie. symmetrical & rectilinear. The main buildings comprise of Sanmon (main gate), Butsuden (hall where Buddha image is housed), Hatto (lecture hall) & the monks' quarters all in a straight line one after another.
To enter the temple, you normally have to cross a bridge over a stream or pond, symbolizing the crossing from earthly world to that of Buddha.
Zen temples are normally less colorful than their Buddhist counterpart, intending to be so to facilitate enlightenment by the emptying of mind of worldly illusions.
Have Fun at CosmoWorld
by traveldream
CosmoWorld, in Minato Mirai 21 Area, is an amusement park with the view of Yokohama bay. It can be easily located with its giant ferris wheel and the Cosmo Clock. If you ride the ferris wheel, you can see the beautiful view of Yokohama Bay. At night, the city light is very beautiful.

"quick two day escape from tokyo"
on my own for two days- left chiba-narita area and went to see a friend in Yokohama. we had worked together the previous summer and became good friends. I am quite generous in general and i guess he wanted to repay me . a summers worth in two days was the problem though.
it was great fun but it was basically a big party. most of his friends gathered to welcome me. eat drink, drink more drink.
i didnt get to see a whole lot of yokohama. Minato Mirai 21 is very cool though
