The prefecture of Kumamoto is located almost in the center of Japan's most southern main island Kyushu, and I lived in its name-giving 'capital' Kumamoto city for two years. Due to its central location, it offer good opportunities to visit the other prefectures of Kyushu - Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima (see related pages for deatails). However, Kumamoto city as well as Kumamoto prefecture have a lot to offer.
