My wife and I, along with my daughters, stayed at this hotel two years ago. Because of the perfect location, excellent service, clean rooms and affordable room rates, we are once again staying in this hotel in March, 2009. We once stayed at a hotel by the Kyoto Tower, and although we were pleased with the facilities, it was no where as conveniently located as the Alpha. From the Alpha you are able to walk to Gion, Nishiki Market, Potocho, many fine restaurants, and other "must visit" places of interest. In addition, there is a bus stop just a few steps from the hotel on Kawaramachi Dori that will take you directly to Kyoto Station, Kiyumizudera, etc. A new addition is the 7-11 twenty-four hour convenience store located on the first floor. Lastly, we haven't dined in any of the hotel's restaurants since there are numerous restaurants near by.
As stated above, the best thing about the Alpha is its location. Rooms are fairly small, but were very clean. The staff were very accommodating and didn't hesitate to assist us with our travel & dining questions.
