Face it: nothing in Kyoto's heart will be cheap. But the Hotel Gimmond is a nice compromise of comfort and cost. I recommend it highly to the middle-class traveler on a middle-class budget. Breakfast is good but boring after a few days. But who cares? Eat elsewhere.
Unique Quality: Location, location, location. They speak some English and are patient with your lousy Japanese.
