Cheap and Good hotels in Kyoto
by AyurinHiro
I'm living in Osaka (near Kyoto),so I haven't stayed with them myself.. (So I'm sorry I can't give my experience or my feedback)
But these inns look quite nice and cheap!
"Tour Club
" (near from Kyoto Station, cheap, somewhat Japanese atmosphere, very famous and popular among foreign tourists)
"Budget Inn" (This inn is also run by the same manager of "Tour Club")
Ryokan Shimizu
It is about 10 minutes walk from JR(Japan Railway) Kyoto Station.
It looks like a Japanese house.
Other cheap accommodation are...
(I'm sorry I haven't been there. So I can't say whether they are recommendable or not )
J-Hoppers
K's House
Gojo Guest House
Toji-An Guest House
(About Toji-an, one of my VT friends says it is not recommendable....)
Uno House
Ohto Ryokan

Recommendation of a place to stay in Central Kyoto?
by rl2014
Hi,
I am coming to Kyoto next week with a friend, and we are both students. We want to stay in an inexpensive place (if that's possible!) in Central Kyoto. Do you have anything to recommend? Do you recommend a ryokan?
Thanks!

I have serious reservations about the 900yen/night ryokan/hotel/etc. Its just not economically possible for someone to offer any accomodation at that price in Japan. There has to be some other catch or the place is really bad, its a shady offer. I would suggest not to go for any ryokans/hotels/hostels that offer accomodation for less then 2000 yen/night. And preferably check out the place's photographs before you reserve it. Its better to pay $10 more and be safe in a foreign country. Thats just my opinion...

We have just come back from Japan and stayed in K's House http://kshouse.jp/ which was a really nice place to stay about 10 mins walk from Kyoto Station so well located as well. Cheap, really clean, only a few years old although they get booked up so don't know if it's too short notice but definetly worth a look.
