Kyoto hotel

by Toshioohsako

Anybody knows the Japanese name of "Citadiness Kyoto Karasuma.Gojo"? It seems a new hotel. I wrote to the hotel in Japanese but no answer.

Hello, I think you mean Citadines Kyoto karasuma Gojo. You can google that name and you will find not only their website, but also some info and reviews from TripAdvisor.com. Looks like a great hotel!

Re: Kyoto hotel

I want to know how it is written in japanese. It might be a difficult for non-Japanese speaking people to answer this. I looked everywhere on WWW but cannot find it. I can surf a lot of English sites of this hotel but no Japanese site of this hotel. I wonder what happened. This is a Japanese hotel in kyoto.

Not so difficult. Just takes a bit more time. Try this website:

http://www.citadines.jp/kyoto/

This is the Citadines Kyoto Karasuma Gojo website (in Japanese) and it should show how it looks in kanji. Hope that's the right one, if not we'll try again (later tonight, after I'm home from work!) :)

Travel Tips for Kyoto

Vending Machine

by daryll

Life is so convenient in Japan. I was thirsting for ice cream during the heat spring season. Thankfully vending machine is extremely popular. So I bought an Ice Cream from a vending machine. You do find vending machine selling instant noodles and even manga.

Adaptor Plug

by bkoon

Bring a correct adaptor plug if you want to get your laptop, mobile phone or digital camera charged. It is not easy to look for one in Japan. You can only find them at big departmental stores and they are sold at a hefty cost! The voltage is 100V in Japan. Bring a transformer if need be.

I bought it from Isetan JR for about 1100 Yen.

Kyoto Shuttle Bus

by hawaiidreamin

Go get yourself a bus pass from Tourist Information Center in Kyoto Train Station (English Spoken) or the bus terminal right outside the station (vending machine). 1 Day/multiple day passes are availble. Less than 500 yen for 1 day pass. Cheapest and easiest way to get around Kyoto. Seleceted buses are tourist friendly (English signs). The schedule and bus map (English version) can be picked up at the Tourist Information Center.

The Best Tempura & Pork Cutlet I've Ever Had

by BorderHopper

This restaurant was right near Ponto Cho, a narrow walkway lined with restaurants and bars, at the entrance to the underground. It serves pork cutlets almost exclusively...and they are excellent! We ate there every other day during our stay in Kyoto. When you are served a pork cutlet they will bring you a ponzo sauce and a seperate bowl of sesame seeds. You must grind the seeds into a powder and mix it with the ponzo sauce. It's very tastey! Now, I'm not quite sure I got this description right but I assure you this is a great dinner!

Nijo Castle

by yurxlnc

This was the former residence of the shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu , built as a residence for him and his successors.
It is now known as Ninimaru [secondary castle], built in 1803 and famous for its Momoyama architecture.
The main castle Honmaru had a five storied tower.
Admission 600 yen.
Open 8.45-17.00 daily, but closed on Tuesdays January, July, August and December. Also closed 26 December -4 January.
