Kyoto Tower
by BorderHopper
One of the first things we noticed about Kyoto was the large tower knon as the 'Kyoto Tower' which stands high above the Kyoto Rail Station. It happens to be the tallest structure in Kyoto so you won't miss it upon your arrival in the city. If you ever get lost just look for the tower and you know you'll eventually end up at the train station. Unless you like spending your hard earned money on expensive elevator rides don't even bother paying nearly $11 usd to go to the top of this tower. You can see a similar view of Kyoto from the top floor of the Kyoto Station building just across the street.
An Exquisite Garden in Any Season
by shenandoah
Okochi Sanso was the private villa of a silent film star of Japanese movies in the 1920's. He built an extraordinary garden and estate which is now open to the public. For about 800 yen, it is well worth the price to go...quite a few acres, a nice cup of green tea with a sweet, and gorgeous views. In the area is also a lovely bamboo forest. It's in the Arashiyama area near the Torokko Romantic train, western Kyoto.
Kansai International Airport

This is a unique airport. It is built on a reclaimed island. I read that it is one of most expensive airport in the world. Services are alright. There are buses and trains from the Airport to Kyoto and major cities.
