convenient for backpackers!
J-Hoppers Kyoto is quite a big hostel with up to 4 storeys. There is a nice living room with kitchen. there are four pcs with internet connection. There is a Emergency Escalator outside my room, so it makes me feel safe.
The room is quite spacious too, and i was in the female dormitary, and there is a table for us to sit down and chat!
Unique Quality: Receptionists are super friendly and helpful! There are japanese dresses for you to try on at the lobby. Currently they are upgrading their website, by givin them your favorite photos taken in Japan, they give u 1 hr free of Internet Access. I think thats really cool!
Location is super convenient, can get bus outside the hostel and 7-11 is just 30 sec walk. there are plenty of restaurants and convenient stores around too! its only 2500 Yen. You can buy the day pass bus ticket from the hostel too!
I love j-hopper kyoto! but not j-hopper hiroshima

Hopping in Japan
You have to love Aki. Not only does the guy bike all over the world but he brings the guesthouse to the normally pricey Japan. I used this place as a base to explore Japan from with the train station so near. A big plus of J-hoppers is that they give benefits for staying longer. I stayed more than 3 days so they gave me a free ticket to go to a local Japanese bath which was an experience in itself.
Oh yeah. There's no curfew either.

Q: Any suggestion for the hotels in Kyoto Centre which less than 10 min walk to JR Kyoto station? "Hi there, I’d try online booking for Shimizu Ryokan near the JR Kyoto station for dates: 8, 9 & 10 Jun. But it's fully book...."
A: "I stayed at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto which is about a 10 min walk from the station (I walked directly form there) and was quite happy with commodities and price."
