Great accomodations for the price
The price was good & the location was good for us. The hotel didn't have many customers as it's located pretty far from Kyoto Station. But, it was located in a place that was to our liking: near Nijo jo (Nijo Castle). Another big plus is the entire hotel was non-smoking.
Also, we had a really cool jacuzzi-like shower of French architecture.
Unique Quality: The shower was absolutely like nothing I'd ever experienced. You have to see the shower. It's amazing.
It has 3 modes of operation or all can be used simultaneously. The shower enough is reason to stay there. We will absolutely stay here on our next trip to Kyoto.

Q: Any suggestion for the hotels in Kyoto Centre which less than 10 min walk to JR Kyoto station? "Hi there, I’d try online booking for Shimizu Ryokan near the JR Kyoto station for dates: 8, 9 & 10 Jun. But it's fully book...."
A: "I stayed at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto which is about a 10 min walk from the station (I walked directly form there) and was quite happy with commodities and price."
