This is the second hotel where I stayed in Kyoto as the offert in Westin was only for the week end.
This is a modern confortable hotel, probably7 not as luxurious as Westin, but definitly better locateed.
It's just a few steps away from the main railway station in Kyoto which means you are next to most the main busses for the city excursions and trains for the close towns excursions.
I found an offert in the web and paid 50 euro per night without breakfast.
Breakfast was about 9 euros which, unless you really intend to eat a lot, is not worth.
Unique Quality: Location and breakfast buffet.

The former KYOTO GRAND HOTEL is a big and very efficent two-cultural home. Rooms in many different sizes (you pay also per size !) and in international and/or Japanese styles.
Rhiga Royal Kyoto Hotel offers 2 Japanese, 1 Chinese and a western restaurant, an indoor pool and a massage- and sauna-parlour .
Unique Quality: Centrally located, convenient business-style hotel with many amenities. Good, very japanese service.

The Rihga Royal is a beautiful five-star hotel located in the heart of Kyoto. Each room is tastefully decorated with simple, yet elegant furniture. Sliding doors on the windows covered in shoji (rice paper) provide privacy while still allowing the sunlight to filter through. Fully paneled doors can be pulled across the windows at night for complete privacy. Typical Western-style rooms are available, as well as traditional Japanese style rooms.
There are many restaurants to chose from in the Rihga Royal Hotel! The Top of Kyoto boasts French dishes (as well as American breakfasts) on the 14th floor of the hotel. Stunning views of Kyoto can be seen from each table! Corbeille Coffee House offers light meals and quick service, while the Granada Bar serves as a unique Spanish-accented hotel bar perfect for lounging for hours!
The hotels amenities also include an indoor heated pool, sauna, karaoke room, beauty salon and barber shop, delicatessen, and even a mini shopping corner!

This hotel is all one could hope for. Centrally located with a staff that is most helpful and fluent in English. There's a bakery off the lobby so you can take treats to your room for morning coffee if you don't wish to use the restaurant. Food is good and if you go to the roof top restaurant you'll have a view of Kyoto that can't be matched along with world class dishes.

A: "I stayed at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto which is about a 10 min walk from the station (I walked directly form there) and was quite happy with commodities and price."
