Kyoto Tip

During the Meiji Era, the introduction of modern technology and machinery from the West brought about industrialization in Kyoto and spurred the development of the textile, metal, electronic and precision machinery industries. After World War II, the machinery and metalworking-related manufacturing industries developed rapidly and gave rise to globally competitive high-tech industries in the fields of electronics and precision machinery. With materials and biotechnology industries which incorporate new scientific and technological developments, Kyoto's technological prowess continues to attract worldwide attention.
Osaka - Busy City in Kansai
by bkoon
Osaka is a big and bust city. We were there mainly for shopping. 2 places we went, Umeda and Namba. These are great shopping start points. Dotonobori is a must go. Just observing the busy lifestyle of the people is also interesting.
As for turist attractions, I would say there are a few :
- Osaka Castle
- Osaka Aquarium
- Dotonbori
- Tennoji Park
Bus Cards
by konniemario
If you want to do temple or sight hopping within Kyoto, you're bound to take lots of bus and subway rides. In this instance, it's recommended that you get one of those bus cards since it will save you both money and time. A one-day card costs 500 yen and just as long as you take more than 3 bus rides (very likely), you already have your money's worth. You can get this from the Tourist Information Center or the major bus terminals. Popular bus routes can be seen outside the Kyoto Station area.
Don't forget to have a drink !
by WStat
Especially in Kyoto the weather can be extremely hot, humid and taking all of your condition.
Because one tends to exaggerate ones performance without thinking of health-issues, I recommend to take a rest from time to time and, above all, to have a drink (no alcohol, of course, except a sundowner after the days work has been done !)

The approach slope leads to Nioh-mon Gate, Saimon Gate, and a three-storied pagoda erected at the foot of Higashiyama mountains. The main hall (National Treasure) has a platform projecting over a precipice, which commands a panoramic view of Kyoto surrounded by cherry blossoms in spring, green foliage in summer, and crimson maples in autumn. In the temple precincts, there are 12 more halls and pagodas.
